Drug trafficking, use, and addiction are some of the issues that affect Watertown. Frequently, individuals are charged with conspiring in the trafficking of drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine to the city NYS (Attorney General). The city is associated with violent drug trafficking as individuals from different nationalities flood in with little cocktails of drugs and pills, putting people at risk of harm. Every day, people smuggle drugs to the city to profit from peddling lethal drugs, calling a need for effective initiatives to root out drug trafficking in the area.
According to Attorney General James, drugs such as heroin and fentanyl have devastating consequences on the community throughout New York NYS (Attorney General). Every year, people smuggle a lethal cocktail of drugs and pills that expose the residents to harm. There is a large-scale drug operation in the area as dealers prey on the addicted. Numerous cases of drug overdoses and drug death have been reported. The Attorney General’s office has highlighted the immeasurable harm of the issue on drug users and families.
Additionally, a task force should be formed to conduct physical and covert surveillance to detect any suspicious operations within the city. Drug dealers generally utilize coded and cryptic terminologies to hide their operation; hence, there is a need to conduct more research and interact with locals to identify the terminologies and language used to identify narcotic transactions.
Moreover, a multi-agency investigation should be established to bring together agencies such as the Watertown Police Department, New York state police, US Border Patrol, Criminal Investigation Division, and United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement to wipe out drug issues in Watertown City.
