Earth Day and the Climate Change

PEER #1 Response

The main assessment strategies applied in this analysis include a thorough study of the sources and evaluating possible biases involved within the narrative. Despite recognizing the biased judgment, a peer decided to assess the versatility of origins behind the prejudice. Thus, the use of diverse voices was recognized as a relevant potential narration.

This specific strategy revealed a critical approach to the multifaceted sources in order to lower the influence of any particular bias. Hence, the lack of certain perspectives on the discussed historical event decreased the relevance of the source due to the excessive focus on individual biases. Essentially, in order to thoroughly evaluate the material, it is necessary to assess the versatility of sources used to strengthen the main point since it provides more inclusive insight into the discussed events.

In the context of Earth Day, this strategy can be effective for discovering the motifs behind establishing a focus on sustainability. Specifically, the analysis of diverse informational influences will provide a better understanding of the reasoning behind the focus on specific areas of green environmentalism. Following the peer’s method, it is necessary to identify different voices of influence and authority related to historical, religious, national, and global perspectives related to the matter.

This way, the analysis of the narratives allows recognition of the similarities among the influential voices. Therefore, it contributes to the establishment of the dominating point of view within a specific location, which influences the reinforcement of the historical event. Within the topic of climate change, the significant biases might be related to the industrial and economic fields, as well as the areas of politics, activism, and science. Hence, the application of this evaluation strategy allows us to judge the areas of influence in climate change beliefs effectively.

PEER #2 Response

The most important elements of the displayed strategy are the search for diverse voices and opinions and the analysis of people’s individual sentiments and ideologies related to the discussed topic. Hence, this strategy requires collecting large amounts of different information that would be able to cover various points of view of the actual participants of the given historical event. Essentially, the versatility of perspectives provides a detailed overview of social dynamics and the level of engagement and trust in promoted concepts, as well as uncovering the level of the influence of multiple biases.

In relation to the field of climate change, the practical use of this strategy would be the evaluation of people’s opinions and ideology encouraged by the creation of Earth Day. The analysis of different perspectives on the same topic provides a broad understanding of the concept’s advantages and disadvantages due to the individual characteristics of local people who interact with it. Moreover, this format of analysis reduces the domination of specific biases and helps to comprehend the impact of the number of different prejudices on people’s general opinions.

For instance, if certain people tend to think in a pessimistic manner and highlight the negative outcomes of a given event, the analysis of their opinion contributes to a better comprehension of the possible detriments. Similarly, the assessment of the ideas of the people with more positive perspectives and idealistic worldviews allows us to empathize with the short-term and long-term benefits related to the matter. Thus, collective analysis of the diversity of opinions allows to gain a fuller knowledge of the event, including the area of green environmentalism and the establishment of Earth Day.
