Introduction
Computing devices encompass a broad range of devices that perform various machine computations, store, process, and search for information. They include phones, tablets, smartwatches, hard drives, and storage devices. Their emergence resulted from advances in the fields of physics, radio electronics, and circuit design. Technology encompasses many ingenious ideas that continually evolve to meet the changing realities and needs of communities. The development of technology is closely tied to the improvements it has made in people’s daily lives and the desire for even greater efficiency.
History of Computing Advancement
The success and development of technological discoveries are due to the increasing knowledge about the world that humans were forced to memorize. A simple light bulb became necessary for reading, and microchips were needed to write data in large quantities (Bourgeois, 2020). In 1936, Alan Turing proposed a machine that could compile and execute algorithms independently. Then, the first computers appeared in England during World War II to decipher radio signals and messages from Nazi Germany. It is hard to imagine life without a PC or smartphone because they solve many of society’s modern problems.
Mathematics, robotics, and analytics led to the emergence of fast computing machines that could process vast amounts of information. Computer science, with its art of building algorithms and numerical sequences to store data, led to the creation of computers, in the modern sense, including smartphones. Programming languages emerged immediately after the recognition of the imperfections of early computers in the 40s and 50s in America during the Cold War (Bourgeois, 2020).
The first Intel chips were created in 1970, and without them, it is difficult to imagine today’s reality. In 1976, the first computer with an Apple I single-system board was designed. The development of optics led to the creation of displays and tablets, as well as artificial intelligence based on binary code—smart machines. Computing machines came about because information storage and processing began to dominate the world.
Conclusion
Thus, computing results from much trial and error by humanity, which sought to make their lives more comfortable. Man evolved from a simple light bulb to sophisticated computers and smartphones, taking advantage of the evolutionary principle that requires adaptation to survive. Technological advances are related to the need to accumulate, process, and store information, as they make life much easier.
