District State Governor: Rick Scott
Rick Scott is the 45th Governor of Florida. The primary focus of his activities is job creation and improvement of the state economy (“Meet Governor Scott,” n.d.). Governor is interested in improving health care as well. As an entrepreneur, he specialized in healthcare transactions aimed at “improving hospital efficiency, lowering costs, and focusing on better outcomes” (“Meet Governor Scott,” n.d., para. 3). It means that in his legislative work, he may also focus on the improvement of healthcare services and increasing their affordability.

Florida House of Representatives: Travis Cummings
Leader Cummings was first elected in 2012. His committee assignments include

Nowadays, 147 individuals from Florida represent the state in the U.S. House. Two of the current members are Carlos Curbelo and Vern Buchanan. Throughout 2011-2018, Vern Buchanan was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, including Subcommittee on Health, Subcommittee on Human Resources (Chairman), and Subcommittee on Social Security (“About Vern,” n.d.). He voted for budgetary changes in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (American Health Care Act of 2017), as well as for the amendment of the criminal code making abortion during and after 20th post-fertilization week illegal (Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act).
Carlos Curbelo was first elected to the House in 2014. Since 2015, he has served in Small Business Committee, including Subcommittee on Agriculture, Energy and Trade (Chairman), and Subcommittee on Health and Technology; Committee on Ways and Means, and so on (“Committees,” n.d.). Similar to Vern Buchanan, he voted for the American Health Care Act of 2017 and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
