Forensic Psychology in the Police Subspecialty

Forensic psychological officers have crucial roles in the running of the police departments. This is because of law enforcement chores being entitled to many challenges. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the professional psychological officers to offer amicable counseling to the police individuals in the running of the daily chores. Many a time many police officers end up in situations that are hard to withstand, for example, death of a partner in a line of duty, may result to brain torture of the police that experienced the death, to bring the victimized police into normality, the professional psychological officer have to enact psychological counseling on the victimized individual. (American Psychological Association, 2011). It is also the role of the forensic professional officers to offer psychological services to the police officers, and the individuals related to the police department.

The police officers also face many challenges in managing citizens. Many a time they encounter people with mental problems leading to the difficulty in handling them, to solve this, the forensic professional officers have to chip in, and administer psychological talks with the mental disabled individuals.

Community Emergency Response Team in the United State is one of the response teams that require the support of the forensic professional officers in carrying out its duties. In this response team, the forensic psychological officers play the role of managing citizens when encountered in disastrous situations. (Society for Military Psychology, 2007). The professional officers succeed in this by creating understanding between individuals involved in local challenges. For instance, during cases of fire, the forensic professional grants a lot of support in solving the problem amicably without affecting the peaceful coexistence of individuals within the vicinity, this is from their ability in managing many individuals without many problems.
