The phenomenon of lean thinking, which is typically rendered as the introduction of sustainable principles for the use of the resources at the company’s disposal, is an essential element of the 21st-century economy. Allowing one to reduce waste significantly and, therefore, promote sustainability in the design of the company’s operations (Womack & Jones, 2013), the specified approach can be deemed as the essential strategy to be deployed into the production process by any organization operating in the global economy (Schroeder, Goldstein, & Rungtusanatham, 2013).
The subject matter is especially important for the development of the food industry as it helps improve the quality of the product at the same time complying with the principles of environmentalism. Although the adoption of the lean system concept in the food industry is a comparatively new idea that needs testing as the example of IES Lean Systems Ltd. (IES Lean Systems Ltd., 2016a) shows, it seems that the specified tool, creating premises for a more efficient procurement process, will allow for rapid enhancement of lean manufacturing in the designated area.

In other words, the application of Lean Systems in the realm of the food industry seems to have a range of positive effects on the identified environment. First and most obvious, the amount of waste occurring in the course of the pasteurization process is reduced significantly, which means that one of the greatest faults of the contemporary food production process has finally been fixed (IES Lean Systems Ltd., 2016a). As a result, not only the rates of energy consumption are reduced but also the reliability of the process is increased to a considerable extent.
As the information provided by the company shows, the drop in the amount of waste that the production process inevitably triggers is not the only effect of the Lean model application. Apart from creating premises for more sensible use of resources, the adoption of the Lean Model has created prerequisites for better monitoring of the essential processes. In other words, the lean manufacturing concept serves as the foundation for redesigning the quality con troll system, making it more flexible and, thus, preventing the slightest faults from slipping unnoticed. More importantly, the lean system used at the IES Lean Systems Ltd. provides options for closer supervision of the production process (IES Lean Systems Ltd., 2016b).
Though being an innovative approach that is bound to evolve into an even grander concept, the philosophy of lean management can and should be applied to a variety of industries, the food one being a prime example. (2016) shows, the reduction in waste, which becomes a possibility due to the change in the pasteurization process and the subsequent change of the flow rates, promotes further adoption of a corporate philosophy based on the principles of sustainability. As a result, the overall performance rates of entrepreneurship can be improved significantly. By focusing on the issues that are related to the reasonable use of resources, a firm displays its concern about both its efficiency and the environment, which does not go unnoticed by the target audiences. Therefore, the use of lean management strategies should be deemed as beneficial for any entrepreneurship operating in the global economy.
