Description of the Music
In his classical style of music released in 1793 and titled Symphony No.101, Joseph Haydn displays artistic skills evident by the incessant quavers in the second drive. Haydn uses movements with complementary structures, time signatures, key signatures, tempo, and themes to deliver contrast, variation and repletion in the song (Bonds 178). It opens with a slow introduction in the D minor called adagio, which then result in D major presto. The second movement, assuming the ABA form, lies in the G major and marked andante, while the third and fourth movements occur in minuet and vivace, respectively. The principal melody originates from bar 2, played by violin 1. The melody in the song is conjunct with doubled dotted and dotted rhythms alongside demisemiquavers and pianissimo dynamic at bar 24.
Symphony No.101 has a diminished chord within bar 48, at beat 2, depicting a seamless instance of dissonant harmony. The main texture in the song is accompaniment and melody, but there is an illustration of unison from bars 21 to 23 and a monophonic feel in bars 64 and 112. The last three chords in the song’s movement are homophonic. Haydn also features acciaccaturas which create melodic embellishment in the timbre.
Significance and Personal Relations of the Song
Haydn’s piece remains important to me since it displays an evolution in content and form with an incredible impact on his audiences. Moreover, the ability to demonstrate remarkable progress from immaterial youthful pieces, wholly conquered by his pre-classical peers, to the soaring feat with more balanced, tuneful, and less complicated songs is admirable (Bonds 174). Such an achievement influences my thinking on how music can enable an individual to make superb milestones when hard work and commitment are integrated. The main thing I can grab from this music is the significance of patience and dedication in any undertaking. The enjoyable tunes from this music resulted from steady growth in gratitude and expression of idiomatic abilities. My educational goal is to acquire appropriate and meaningful knowledge and skills in the discipline of music for a prosperous and sustainable career. Therefore, this song establishes the meaning of endurance in learning and readiness to improve as a way of refining career, especially in the music environment.
