The committee’s foundation was in 1972 under the auspices of the Conference of NGOs. It was formed in preparation for the International Women’s Year, 1975, and the UN Decade of women, 1975-1985, including the Initial World Conference on Women held in Mexico City in 1975 (UN Women, 2021). I support the committee’s fundamental policies on facilitation of a platform for the voices and leadership of the feminists and women’s rights organization internationally.
I agree with its lobbying and the inclusion within the United Nations deliberations to pursue gender equality in society. I also consent and support the committee’s vision of envisioning the world without sexual violence and sexism. There must be no discrimination against women and girls in the world, and the current political and economic problems call for the implementation of social policies encouraging women empowerment. I also support the committee’s commitment to anti-racism and the vast feminist and women’s social transformation movement. The committee has initiated positive steps in eliminating racism, colorism, and genocidal practices from our global society. I agree that the feminists and women’s movement have not escalated, but the virus of racism continues to penetrate to all aspects of life from generation to generation. In summary, the commission has helped in the representation of women in every perspective of life, improving their decision-making and formal opportunities. I vouch for the initiation and implementation of governmental and non-governmental organizations to advocate for the rights of women in society to bridge the gap between the human genders in diverse perspectives.
