Introduction
Uncontrolled cell growth, which has the potential to spread to other body parts, is the root cause of oncological disorders such as cancer. To manage their condition and treat the symptoms of their disease, cancer patients need specialized care (Weinkove et al., 2020). This paper will use Anna as an example to discuss the fundamentals of treating patients with oncological disorders. It will review Anna’s risk factors that might have made her more likely to get cancer, the symptoms that might mean she already has cancer, and the treatment approaches I would use to give Anna the best care possible.
Risk Factors
Age, sex, and family history are risk factors that could have made Anna more likely to develop cancer. Anna is a female who is 45 years old. Because of the hormonal and physiological changes that come with aging, she is more likely to develop certain cancers, such as breast cancer. Because some cancers, like prostate cancer, are almost exclusively found in men, Anna is also more likely to get cancer because of her sex. Finally, given that some genetic mutations and hereditary conditions can predispose a person to certain types of cancer, Anna’s family history of cancer may also increase her risk of developing the disease.
Signs and Symptoms
Anna probably already has cancer because she has exhibited some signs and symptoms. Weight loss, exhaustion, fever, skin color changes, breathing difficulties, and lumps or bumps in the area where the cancer is present are typical signs and symptoms of cancer (Saini et al., 2020). In Anna’s case, she has signs of fatigue and pain in her right nipple and a lump in her right breast that is tender to the touch. Further research is necessary to properly diagnose and treat her condition because these symptoms point to breast cancer.
Care Strategies to Provide Quality Care
Physical/Psychological Assessment
Analyzing Anna’s physical and mental state is my first care strategy. Considering how her condition might affect her general well-being, given her age, underlying health conditions, and lack of medication compliance, it is critical. She needs to have a thorough physical exam to determine her overall health. A psychological assessment should also be conducted to determine whether she may be suffering from any possible psychological problems, such as depression and anxiety. This evaluation will give medical professionals a better understanding of her condition and the most effective course of treatment for her.

Providing Anna with high-quality care involves using education as a critical strategy. Anna must first be informed about her condition, available treatments, and potential side effects, which can be achieved through specially designed educational sessions to ensure she knows how to make an informed choice. This educational plan may also include introducing Anna to resources and support to provide her with the emotional and psychological assistance she might need to deal with her condition. Having more knowledge, Anna will be better equipped to manage her health.
