Introduction
Organizational behavior is the study of how people or groups acts in an organization or an interpretation of the the relationship between people and organization interms of the firm as awhole. This aims to enhance good relationship through the achievement of the general objectives of human, organization and social. National Iranian Oil Company is the oldest and the largest oil industry in Iran and world at large. In 1951, it was natioalized and became under the management of the public hence its CEO Dr Amini was appointed by the president of the republic of Iran. Having been an old staff of the organization, Dr Amini is assumed to be having a lot of information concerning the operations and general behavior of the organization(Robbins & Judge, 2009).
Task faced by the organization
There are many activities that this organization is involved in so as to achieve its general aim or goal. It explores the raw oil from the mines they site and refines it to make a useful product for domestic and commercial purposes. The company has many market agencies like wholesalers and retailers who help in distributing the products to the local consumers, therefore in their management strategies, proper distribution processes must be considered. To increase the sales, the company export oil and especially crude to the interested nations of the world. It also offers training concerning its operations so as to have qualified and skilled workers.
Some of the issues in managing people to perform the required task
Due to the differences in background, experience and skills, people have differentways of doing things. The organization should have general objectives set to be attained by everyone and the Management should carefully manage them so as to be productive. Every worker shouyld be made comfortable to feel that they are part of the ownership of the organization and very important in its operations. Financial reinforcement is also important to keep the workers comfortable.
While trying to manage the workers, the organization encounters both external and internal issues. The workers have some individual problems mostly associated with the regular and lengthy separation with their families, background and experience. The management has difficulties considering thye interest of each member. Handling of different individuals depends on their age, for example, the interests of the younger is far much different from those of the old (Robbins & Judge, 2009).
The external factors such as environmental changes, for example, change in climate or the technological advancement greatly affects the ways of managing the organization because the activities of the staff may also change or the aim of the entire organization. For example, jthe use of machines to do most of the manual work has reduced the labour or easen it. This means that the management has to keep on updating its management strategies to fit in the status of the present world hence survive in the stiff competition.
How the interviewee has tried or is trying to tackle these issues
According to the response of the interview, the management of the organization easily achieves its objectives by ensuring that the efforts of any worker are appreciated. This is achieved by allowing decision making by all the members and considering their opinions when planning for the organization. The efforts of the workers should be recognised through rewards , for example, increase in the salaries or giving an allowance. This helps to boost the performance of the organization as the workers will put extra efforts to ensure that they are all rewarded; the rewards are often valued interms of monetary figures. Those who make mistakes are cuationed by pointing out their mistakes.
Proper machinery and other form of power is implemented to make work easier. This follows regular assessment of the changes in the environment to ensure that the strategies are up to date, for example, changes in technology should be considered.
The issues and the interviewee’s response from the perspective of the various theories in Organizational Behavior
The response of the interviewee is relevant to the theory of Fredrick Taylor which says that the workers should be closely supervised consider punishment and reward as motivators to hardwork. Just like the assumption of the theorist the respondent says that the background and skills of the workers should be carefully studied to determine the work to be assigned. Many of the other theorists like While Taylor’s and Max Weber argues that reinforcement of workers can increase their morale of working hard, for example, ensuring that they are financially stable(Robbins & Judge, 2009).
Mooney and Reiley argues that the management principles should be guide the organization to realize and consider the interests of the workers depending on age different so as to hold the attention of each and make them to feel to be part of the organization.
Conclusion
Organizational behaviour depends on an individual organization and the pertsonnels working in it.This is because each organization has its own regulations which are followed by the members and dictates the relationship between the workers and the organization and among the different hierachies of staff members. For example the behavior of National Iranian Oil Company is dependent on its objectives and management strategies.
