Presidential Controversy in the JFK Film by Oliver Stone

The film called JFK, produced by Oliver Stone, is one of the most discussed in the cinematic world. People have divided into two groups, and while one community believes that all described actions and events presented in the film are correct, another group denies the truthfulness and refutes the facts from the film. Every person has a right to support or contradict the described history by using credible sources and valuable pieces of evidence. Even though Oliver Stone used approved foundations to produce this film, many leaders in different countries refused to support the shown information.

The reasons for the refusals might be diverse, beginning from political factors and finishing with individual reasons. According to Toplin, the film is fully based on real events, and every scene can be supported by several approved historical sources (1). The author of Oliver Stone’s USA believes that the negativity oriented on the film is caused by personal hostility of some individuals to certain events and facts. This essay will cover the most common reactions to charges against Oliver Stone, why the film caused contradictions between leaders of many countries and citizens interested in politics, and show the strong and weak sides of the movie.

The film’s idea raised many contradictions in experts working in the political sphere. By reading various revisions of the film, it can be seen that every professional has understood the concept in different ways. JFK did not become the first film of Oliver Stone which was actively discussed from diverse perspectives. Many previous cinematic works were judged because of unusual but true expression in many spheres of life, like politics. When Stone presented his film, the freedom of speech started developing, and for some individuals, the ability to speak out was unusual (Engelhardt 113). The irony, political dissent, and the use of metaphor were unique and, due to the active implementation of these techniques, many charges against Oliver Stone appeared. The author of JFK presented the truth, which was not beneficial for some political representatives and those who cooperated in the murder. In reality, Stone presented that the official document refutes the possibility of the killing. The whole case did not receive enough attention from civilians and those who fought for justice.

The film has caused fury from those fond of cinematography, and some emotions did not carry a positive motive. Anger appeared to be one of the common emotions which were based on weighty arguments. Official government resources provided a lack of information, and the mission of Oliver Stone was to reveal the truth, which should be highly prioritized by those who are fighting against fake information. This motive became subjected to massive criticism from those leaders who tried to avoid the enormous spread of correct information. Nevertheless, the film has influenced people who are not closely related to politics, and a large amount of new and unique information caused concerns regarding the bold move of the author (Toplin 4). The film is based on historical factors which approve the Stone’s correctness, and critiques from some experts do not have concrete grounds that would oppose the facts presented in JFK. Consequently, people who watch the film and read reviews from different political professionals might be affected by false information, and charges oriented on Oliver Stone may appear without valuable reasons.

Even though JFK is known as one of the truest stories of the John F Kennedy assassination, it still has strong and weak sides. The key strength of the work presented by Oliver Stone is the correctness of the message and the use of valuable sources from history. This work is based on history, and some people might become less interested in the action described by the author. However, JFK was presented clearly, avoiding drama and a full range of emotions. The use of diverse pictures made this masterpiece exciting for those who avoid historical films.

The investigation conducted by the CIA and FBI took many months, and Oliver Stone managed to include only interesting occasions avoiding misleading information. The author has operated his investigation using historical facts that could influence the murder action. Even though the use of extra data is a strong side of the film, many arguments raise from diverse spheres like politics, economics, and history, making people more conflicting. The reputation of JFK is not stable. While some people believe that this is the greatest historical work, others consider it a misleading information that denies historical facts. Stone and Kuznick proposed in The untold history of the United States that many factors became known many years after historical events happened (208). This position is closely related to JFK as most of the known information has been provided in the modern world when the problem has been forgotten.

Nevertheless, some experts might state that the film has some weak sides which do not allow it to become one of the greatest in the world. For instance, Oliver Stone does not support Garrison’s theories which most political professionals commonly accept. The author rewrites the history of John F Kennedy’s assassination to update the theories of Garrison. People did not expect changes in the final conclusion of the murder action. This factor has raised contradictions, making the film weak in the representation of unique and shocking realities.

Additionally, the movie mistakenly makes people think that it is fully about Kennedy’s murder. JFK carries many hidden motives, and some are not clear for those who are not aware of the problem. Some individuals do not understand that the film’s point is to explain the basis that may help control anger issues. Consequently, these misunderstandings negatively influence the strength of the work presented by Oliver Stone. People who watch JFK may form their unique attitudes toward the author’s work. Every person has a right to define the strong and weak sides of the film according to their views regarding the historical fact the representation of it in the movie.

In conclusion, Oliver Stone has created one of the most influential films globally, which shows the story of actively discussed murder. The style of the work attracts many political leaders who can argue and deny several facts. Students at schools and colleges study this film to practice debate skills as each individual may create a personal attitude to the historical event. Films may make the perception of diverse facts easier. Even those who are not interested in political and historical movements have a chance to dive into this topic without a significant effort. The interest in the president’s assassination may increase, and more people can start looking for the truth in this story. Oliver Stone is one of the greatest filmmakers who managed to create the film, which makes every person think about the flow of information around them and analyze its correctness. Even though this film has some weaknesses, the general appearance is strong, confident, and carries a positive influence.
