The Frye Festival was an event that took place in 2017, and it had a lot of problems. One of the main reasons for the failure was that there were too many people at the event. However, there were not enough activities to keep them all entertained. The organizers were not prepared financially, the venue was not set up correctly, and they failed to provide enough food for people. It has been called the worst festival ever by some attendees because of these issues. The organizers should have planned better before inviting guests from all over the world.
Frye Festival 2017 was a disaster because the organizers did not have an efficient process to keep track of everything. They had volunteers that were responsible for collecting donations, but the money never made it into their bank account (Stanwick & Stanwick, 2017). The lack of organization led to people being upset and not volunteering in future years. However, the event could have been handled excellently if there could have been the use of the process. Excellent processes come when someone with experience organizes the event.
The people responsible for the event have to properly note the progress of activities in the event. They will need to know how much money has been brought in for the event to cover any expenses. As the management team utilizes the collected finances, there will also be a need for a plan on what to do if something goes wrong. Clarity with any volunteers or employees about their roles and what is expected of them will be key when setting the plans. Precision will help avoid any confusion and make sure that everyone is well informed on the progress of activities. Constant communication with the employees will help them understand what is going on and also allow for their feedback about the event. While receiving the feedbacks, the management has to be prepared for things to go wrong. Such a state will allow for excellent response in a case where errors occur.
It is important to note that there was an evident success in the first two days of the Frye Festival 2017. Thousands of people flocked to see what this festival had prepared, and they were not disappointed. However, on the third day, something went wrong – the hype got out of control. The doors opened at 8 AM, but by 7 AM there were already hundreds of people outside waiting eagerly to get inside. As a result, there was overcrowding that caused many issues, including injuries due to overcrowded lines (Stanwick & Stanwick, 2017). The food vendors present were not able to handle the high-volume customers. The organizers could not stand the population anymore and had to ask a few people to leave.
The decision was very unpopular and led to a mob of angry customers. However, the situation could have been avoided if there was excellent control of publicity. Proper control of the hype is done when there is the creation of a plan and all stick to it. As part of the preparations, there should be enough food vendors and security staff. The person responsible for opening doors has to do it once all the campers have arrived. Through the working, constant and proper updates have to be made such that all persons are aware of the progress.
Proper planning is key for any event to start and perfectly come to completion. The Frye Festival could have taken a smooth trajectory if there was proper scheduling of activities. Having a strict organizing process is one of the key aspects of ensuring that the event is successful. Experienced personnel have to constitute the lead team in ensuring the event is well run. The marketing has also to be done in regulation, being keen on the what has been set for the audience. Such measures constitute proper plans and will make any event excellent.
