Researching of ABC Skilled Nursing Facility

Introduction

A nursing facility is rehabilitation and a provider of medical care services while employing skilled practitioners to attend to patients. Many facilities are in-patient based, depending on the patient’s needs. In a nursing facility, medical experts, licensed nurses, therapists, pathologists, and audiologists provide essential medical services. Patients admitted to nursing facilities receive full-time support. There are various legal regulations that govern the operations of nursing facilities. The ABC Nursing Facility will provide care to children and the old, including medication services. At ABC, the mission will be to maintain and improve the health and well-being of young children and weak adults. The vision is to become the most trusted partner in healthcare for children and the old for better health and hygiene. The daily objectives will include ensuring that all the patient’s needs are attended to and creating positivity among patients. This essay entails how nursing facilities operate with regard to the proposed ABC Skilled Nursing Facility.

Overview of Needs

The Need for Change in the Healthcare Industry

Many countries have reinforced and initiated healthcare incentives that aim to provide affordable healthcare to everyone, such as the free healthcare systems in many countries. The obvious causes of change are social policies and environmental and technological elements that aid in healthcare reforms and treatments. A good example of the reason for the change is the outbreak of COVID-19, requiring hospitals to increase their bed capacity and oxygen repositories. The population a nursing facility is serving can be the source of the need to change and adapt new ways of care provision. According to Evans & Bufka (2020), the expanding older population in the U.S.A. will be a major determining factor in the demand and supply of health care and the resources required to provide those services. When the predicted racial and ethnic mix of the population is combined with the age distribution of the senior population, the implications and challenges of a rising number of elderly people in the future can be compounded.

The population change and speculation in the U.S.A. call for the need to prepare for healthcare plan changes in the future. There have been increasing calls for the nation’s healthcare system to adopt a population health paradigm. Although the current plan has been progressively gaining popularity, it has lately been considered in the realm of behavioral health that entails mental health and substance use disorders. During the coronavirus pandemic, free healthcare in the U.S. has played a significant role in protecting people’s lives. Children and the old are the most susceptible to COVID-19 and at ABC, protective measures have continuously been maintained, thus, protecting patients’ health. To address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the deficiencies of the nation’s current approach to behavioral health requirements, a public health approach is required. In the United States, the current approach to behavioral health care is essentially a one-on-one strategy that focuses on those with a clinical diagnosis (Evans & Bufka, 2020). As a result, many people experience difficulties in affording standard health care.

Improving Company’s Culture and Employee Benefits

Health insurance ranks as the top employee benefit, thus, business owners should focus on offering healthcare primarily to employees. Employee benefits are significant approaches towards labor retention, which in return creates a good reputation (Himber, 2019). It is important to know the priorities of employees to spend resources wisely and to avoid the cost of seeking new workers. The one thing that all insurance plans have in common is how drastically they differ. Deductibles, co-insurance, co-payments, and maximum costs are just a few of the elements that differ between insurance plans (The George Washington University, 2021). The Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Veterans Administration, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is among the federal and state agencies that manage and regulate the healthcare system. Healthcare administrators employ initiatives such as salary increments and free healthcare to employees for a strong and healthy workforce.

Understanding what motivates the employees should be the first step in creating a great workplace culture. Whether through internal surveys or town hall meetings, it is an important aspect of establishing an engagement plan. Health administrators should be aware of their job responsibilities and rely on supervisors for help and more directives. If employee engagement is low, administrators should devise new programs and initiatives to motivate workers. Employees who are engaged are always learning and contributing to the workplace. Workshops and conferences should be utilized to assign tasks to employees to allow them to gain new talents and skills.

Recommendations

Internal/external Stakeholders

While implementing changes in the healthcare industry, the main stakeholders to consider are the medical workers, patients, suppliers, and investors. Health administrators should consider all the affected members during the implementation of policies and practices of effective healthcare provision. Other third parties such as investors, may be included in decision-making, although their votes will not carry much wait, compared to frontline stakeholders such as mangers and board committees.

Planning

A master plan lays out the groundwork for future development and expansion. Planning aids in the development of ideas and advancing visions of about ten to 15 years to ensure that growth is consistent over time. The advantages of creating a master plan are to identify and unite goals and vision, attract investments, engage the community, workforce management, consistent decision making, and administration (Cahnman et al., 2020). Below is an example of a master plan that ABC Nursing Facility could use to increase employee retention by 25%.

Proposed 10-year Master Plan for Employee Retention at ABC Nursing Facility
Purpose:To help in permanently retaining employees through initiating beneficial incentives over time.
Key Objectives: Encourage teamwork, reward and recognize medical attendants, re-state employee engagement terms, and increase benefits.
Initiatives: Yearly awards, performance assessments, new communication channel, new management, division of labor, and regular participatory seminars
Progress Indicators: Low labor turnover, increased individual performance, increased in-patients, increased competitive advantage, and reduced employee conflict cases.

Coordination

Medical practitioners such as Nurses should collaborate with other members of the ABC care facility to share patient-care expertise and exchange effective nursing ideas. The administration will handle employee orientation with care to give a warm welcome. The human resource department should organize reward and appreciation seminars to improve culture and to motivate employees in their careers (The University of Southern Indiana, 2019). The hiring department will formulate new terms of engagement, to entice new employees to work at ABC. Care providers should assist patients in reaching their healthcare goals, such as by putting them in touch with community activities. The working hours shall be divided equally among employees to avoid exploitation and overworking.

Implementation

There will be annual rewards for the best Nurse, driver, messenger and department. Individual performance will be gauged quarterly, where a good score will influence promotion opportunities. Medical practitioners will be requested to present their complaints and suggestions during monthly meetings that will be held to keep stakeholders focused on their healthcare roles. Employees will be entitled to promotions and rewards upon excellent performance. All the employees will be rewarded, depending on criteria used by respective departments.

Evaluation

Employee performance will be assessed through patients and feedback regarding services offered. Information regarding performance and behavioral patterns will be fetched from fellow employees as a result of mutual relationships established. The success of initiatives will also determine the level of reward, that the participants should receive. An increased number of care seekers will be used as evidence of the good reputation created by service providers. The departmental performance will be used to visualize the coordination and unity between employees.

Resources

The ABC facility will only hire once per year, to leave limited chances for eligible applicants. The HR department will state the minimum academic qualification to be equivalent to an international nursing degree standard with more than three years of expertise. There will be a committee appointed to deal with new hiring, to absorb quality talents. The ABC administration will ensure that employees are adequately equipped with supplies needed to achieve short-term set objectives.

Risk management

Employees will be granted fully covered health insurance, to cater to any health needs. Workers will be provided with the necessary tools and garments required to ensure safety, hence a strong and healthy workforce. If the employees are physically and mentally upright, the quality of service provision will significantly improve, therefore that care seekers can trust the facility with their lives. Regular security check-ups and modern disaster-preventative technologies such as smoke detectors will be installed to promote the safety of the patients, community, medical professional.

Marketing

Currently, social media platforms are the most used channels of communication and creating awareness, but community activism would be more effective. Conducting supportive and caring activities such as visiting the poor and offering them food is a successful way of marketing the ABC brand. Monthly campaigns will be conducted to promote health care for children and the elderly in different communities. Actions are always louder than words, and therefore, showing people what we can do is enough evidence that we really care and are willing to support those in need.

Conclusion

A skilled nursing facility is an in-patient treatment and rehabilitation facility with skilled experts and professional medical staff who provide care and medical treatment. The proposed ABC Nursing Facility will hire professionals to provide quality services. The goal is to become a trusted partner in care provision. The intention is to foster children and the old since they are the ones in need the most. A master plan is used to reveal the future objectives of the ABC facility where initiatives such as rewards and recognition seminars will be held to appreciate employees. Maintaining good workplace relationships will encourage teamwork, thus increasing performance. Community activities will help to interact with the neighboring communities, which will help ABC experts identify healthcare needs, market, and create awareness.
