Sport should be an integral part of a healthy lifestyle for every person. Physical exercises keep athletes fit and strong, develop stress resistance, and have a beneficial impact on appearance. Despite the evident positive aspects of sports, people have diverse attitudes towards systematic physical activity. Sports can be intentionally avoided out of laziness, fear of injury, or neglect due to the lack of awareness of its benefits in every age group.
Modern trends orient people towards a healthy lifestyle, and most people follow them. Television advertisements, numerous protein and organic-oriented food stores, and diverse sports clubs indicate to people the availability and popularity of sports. For many, physical activity becomes an obligatory part of life, which appears not only because of conscious wishes but the influence of the environment (Seippel, 2019). In any case, any sportsperson is well aware of the significant beneficial effects of fitting training and is unlikely to complain about such a global trend.
For many, sport becomes not a choice or favorable option, but a whole life. A striking example is coaches, professional athletes, stuntmen, and other professions involving sports. In this case, constant physical activity shifts into a profound occupation with serious requirements and risks. These people obtain a more professional attitude towards sports and perceive it on a deeper level (Rooney et al., 2021). Any injury associated with excessive physical activity is perceived as occupational damage that any professional athlete is prepared to get.
A separate category of people is opponents of sports or those who deny the demand for it in their lives. The motivations behind it can be different: laziness, fear of injury, high cost of some sports services, rejection of the need for sports, and so on. Sport can indeed be traumatic, but sufficient physical activity under the supervision of a coach can only be advantageous for the health. Besides, the modern sports field offers many diverse possibilities for every price point (Shujaat, 2019). From this, we can conclude that laziness is still the primary basis for people rejecting sports.
Sport has remarkable properties: it can bring people together, improve health, and personal qualities, and even enhance mental capacity. It often brings people a lot of positive emotions, for example, when a person achieves some result. Despite all the positive matters, people can still show negative attitudes or indifference toward sports depending on their personal beliefs. Everyone has the right to a personal point of view, but the extension benefits of physical activity are a well-known reality.
