The Adventure of Tom Sawyer: An Essay

The exploration of friendship is a widespread literary issue for authors. This theme is a leitmotif for Mark Twain’s novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In this story, Twain recounts the friendship between Tom and Huckleberry Finn, who go about their mischief and pranks. The book tells about true friendship between people, which can overcome all difficulties. Therefore, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a novel that all people should read to know the essence of sincere amity. The purpose of this essay is to discuss this theme through the image of Tom Sawyer.

The story describes the challenging but exciting life journey of a little boy and his friend. Twain’s work is a fantastic set of adventures that accompany Sawyer and Finn. These include finding love, exposing murder, becoming a pirate, living on an island, and even finding a precious treasure. It would be wrong to call the description of adventure the central purpose of Twain. On the contrary, the writer recounts how Sawyer copes with trouble thanks to a faithful friend through a series of difficulties in life. Thus, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a tale primarily about friendship, which constantly helps people.

Friendliness is one of the critical traits of the book’s protagonist, as expressed in Tom’s openness and naughtiness. The reader observes the boy’s mischief and shenanigans. These include skipping school, fighting, and bathing without his aunt’s permission: all combine to create the image of the classic teenage boy who vigorously explores the world. Sawyer was not a poor child, yet he made great friends with Finn, who came from a family of drunks. Despite the public dislike of Huckleberry, Tom continued to be friends with the boy because he saw him as a faithful companion. Their friendship is reflected in all of the adventures of the two teenagers and only grows stronger with each of them. The culmination of the development of their friendship can be called preserving the relationship even with wealth. However, it is often the case that money spoils people. As a result, Tom Sawyer’s openness and loyalty help to develop a friendship with Finn.

In conclusion, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a classic children’s novel. The work describes the life lessons of two boys through the development of their friendship. The openness and ability to understand a human, regardless of their wealth and status, defines the image of Tom Sawyer. As a result, the story is meaningful literature that everyone should read. In this way, people can experience the idea of real, genuine relationships.
