The main goal and vision of the management information system is to develop an information system that will affect the society in the future. With this vision in mind, there develops responsibility on the practitioners to stick to professional codes of conduct and professional training standards. The codes of ethical standards provide a guideline that the practitioner’s commitment to the work is stipulated. An organization has a code of ethics that states the ethical standards and values that members should maintain.
The code of ethics should be considered holistically. This means that the members of a particular organization must take a look at all the principles that have been identified as the code of ethics. It is unethical for a member to use the conduct of conduct selectively to suit a certain situation rather one should use the code as a guide in every situation. It is not always that the particulars in a code of ethics are always in harmony with each other. Sometimes the some ethical codes may conflict with each other in certain situations. In such a case, it is the responsibility of the professional to reach a balance that is in harmony with the aims of the conduct. Above all, the public good should always be paramount in such cases where the code of rules conflict. There are six fundamental principles that are followed in every information system management and this includes; the welfare of the society, service to the organization, respect the needs of the peers, working together with the staff, a good representation of the organization and individual profession and lastly conducts of self.
