The Great War played a significant role in developing many countries, including the United States. The consequences of the war turned out to be quite deplorable, as various internal structures of the state were violated. The level of industrial production was significantly reduced, which led to a shortage of multiple goods (Tindall and Shi, 2007). Additionally, the unemployment rate has increased, leading to many poor residents of the country and an increase in crime. Tindall and Shi (2007) state that real estate prices in rural areas have declined significantly. Another consequence of the war was the affected agriculture, as tenants of land in the southern United States became impoverished due to falling demand for agricultural products.
One of the socio-cultural tensions in the United States has been the growing desire of women to participate in the country’s political actions. Alice Paul was one of the women who started organizing women’s party groups. She convinced Woodrow Wilson that women should also have voting rights on an equal basis with men (Alice Paul and Women’s Suffrage). Eventually, after a lot of time and thanks to a large-scale investment of forces, the 19th amendment was introduced into the US Constitution, which gave women voting rights.
The conditions caused by the Great Depression were primarily associated with a significant economic crisis. in the wake of panic, depositors began to withdraw money en masse, many organizations did not have enough funds for payments, and they ceased to exist. Immediately after the collapse, Hoover cut taxes to stimulate the economy, increased spending on public works, and secured an agreement between business leaders and trade unions to maintain wages and prevent strikes. These actions helped slow down the decline of the US economy, but still, Hoover’s policy was too soft and ineffective in the conditions of the economic crisis.
The next president, Franklin Roosevelt, sent the country on a “New Deal.” This policy sought to create new jobs at the expense of public works (The Great Depression). Roosevelt actively stimulated the circulation of money in the country to reactivate the economy. The money was engaged and spent on assisting financial organizations. Roosevelt’s course dealt with restoring the banking system and the securities market. This policy was the most successful during the Great Depression and the most important. This is because it affected the US financial system as much as possible.
