The Management Techniques: Mechanisms of Leadership

There are different leadership styles which include: democratic, authoritative, coaching, pacesetting, autocratic, and laissez- faire. All these styles have been employed in various organizations (Alkhawaja, 2017). These qualities demonstrate both positive and negative impacts on the specific institutions in which they are applied. The management techniques affect motivation of workers in service delivery, thus it requires balance in the application of various mechanisms of leadership.

There is no specific leadership skill that can be utilized effectively and efficiently to all situations. Rather, the choice of leadership style depends on the nature of the work, the beliefs of the followers and the leader’s characteristics. It has been shown that effective leadership does not have a single best way of managing people in an organization (Alkhawaja, 2017). This is because for management to be efficient and effective, leaders have to guide their followers according to their developmental level and the kind of setting of the organization. This involves the use of learning, performance assessment, stress eradication and well-being at work.

The application of different leadership styles best achieve specific goals compared to reliance on a single quality. Variance in employees’ motivation informs the application of a wide range of skills to trigger inspiration and commitment to the common agenda. Some of the leadership styles involve allowing the managers to make personal decisions on what to do but may not result in achieving the desired goal. Other leadership styles may coharse the workers but eventually yield the desired results (Sherad, 2020). Therefore, there is no specific leadership style that may be considered absolutely effective in all circumstances. The attainment of the organizational goals depends on various leadership styles applied by managers at all levels of the organization settings.
