Introduction
Large-scale work on the topic of childhood obesity conducted in the last eight weeks allows making valuable conclusions regarding this problem and proposing relevant solutions. Skills acquired make it possible to continue research on public health issues and describe new areas that deserve attention. In order to evaluate the results of this research, the help of classmates and the assessment of their work can be useful. The analysis of the topic under consideration helps to identify the key areas of influence and to compile a comprehensive picture of assistance to children with excess weight.
Selecting the Topic
The choice of this topic for the study was justified by the relevance of this topic and the need to find acceptable solutions for appropriate intervention. According to Xu and Xue (2016), “obesity affects 34% of children in the USA, and is considered a top public health concern due to the high level of morbidity and mortality” (p. 15). Therefore, after eight weeks of work on this topic, the theme is still interesting and relevant. After discussing childhood obesity, additional research may be devoted to the issue of excess weight in adults, the consequences of this health problem, and specific ways to deal with it.
Research Skills Gained
In the process of work on the topic, different research skills developed used, in particular, the qualitative analysis of the information found, as well as the literature review of the existing literature on this issue. Throughout the study period, valuable conclusions were drawn regarding research approaches and strategies. It is possible to note that comparative evaluation may be an effective data processing technique. Eichen et al. (2018) suggest paying attention to the eating habits of children and adults and comparing the outcomes obtained. The takeaways learned can be useful in further work on other topics and become the valuable source of searching for the necessary information.
Peers’ Feedback
Despite the different feedback from classmates regarding the final essay, no changes were made in accordance with the comments received. The research conducted is individual, and approaches and analytic strategies are personal. The use of appropriate sources has made it possible to achieve plausibility of the work, and if changes are made, the essay will be the result of co-authoring research. Therefore, no changes and corrections were made based on classmates’ feedback.
Classmates’ Help
Even though no corrections were made to the final essay according to peers’ feedback, the review of classmates’ work was valuable experience, and new points of view were heard. Approaches to finding and assessing the information received were different, which allowed evaluating the potential areas of research and draw conclusions concerning the application of the strategies examined. The review peers’ papers did not bring additional writing strategies since the essay provided for individual research. Nevertheless, the experience gained due to the opinions of others can be used further for other studies.
Conclusion
The work conducted makes it possible to determine the key areas of activities in the study of childhood obesity and to draw up a comprehensive picture of the intervention based on the data obtained. The topic was chosen because of its relevance, and valuable experience was obtained in the process of work. The opinions of classmates did not affect the choice of approaches to writing; however, valuable comments in other essays may be useful in developing strategies for further research on the problem under consideration.
