The HBO unusual documentary, The State of Play: Trophy Kids, was initially released on December 4, 2014, by Peter Berg and Leland Anderson, and Christopher Bell as the producers. The movie genre is a dramatic movie that trails five progenies exercising in a sport on how discipline and parental guidance influence the children psychologically and physically (Macdermid, 2021). Many children in this film were involuntarily playing their selected sports because of their guardian’s time commitment and emotional and massive financial obligation. Parents should stop forcing their children to play sports that they are not interested in, as this will save them frustrations, money, and time.

The State of Play: Trophy Kids is a dramatic movie that reflects the sports world. Each episode tackles a theme in a cinema-verité style film, shadowed by panel discussions moderated by director Peter Berg. Undoubtedly, it may be complex topping the opening of The State of Play: Trophy Kids, which focuses on parents’ obsession with punishing their children for being successful in different sports (Macdermid, 2021). “Trophy Kids” discovers parents active vicariously over their offspring in various endeavors; basketball, football, tennis, and golf. The movie explores different cultural and societal themes via a sports unifying lens. Parents regularly guide their children toward following professional sports careers by sacrificing what they have to attain their goals. This movie documents the rigor placed by obsessive parents who aim to see their children making it.
The State of Play: Trophy Kids aims at parents who frequently get annoyed when their offspring evade playing, rendering to their forecasts. They take it private when the descendants specify a feeling or escape executing at elite stages. The film also aims at children who lack interest in sports and do not respect their parents. The movie director implies that every child needs motivation from parents, including being cheered and staying in contact with their parents (Macdermid, 2021). When love is contingent on the well-being of children, challenges begin; the director makes a strong thesis indicating that, at times, it is the mother or father who acquires a timeout.
Analysis
The director of The State of Play: Trophy Kids uses a background that has pictures of children participating in sports to attract viewers’ attention; throughout the film, parents act in a horrible way toward their children. The movie takes place in broad daylight, whereby children are playing football while others are playing basketball. This scene relates to the festival concepts where sports are held in the daytime and not nighttime. The scene depicts family relationships since parents learn how they should react toward their children to raise morally upright children. The author argues that if a child grows around negative parents who disrespect referees, they will too grow disrespectfully, which is poor sportsmanship (Macdermid, 2021). He emphasizes to viewers that they should act in a good way and mind that they talk in the presence of their children since it impacts their behavior. He uses the pieces of evidence where children who grow up under negative parents end up growing up as poor sportsmen. The author also uses iconic analysis by displaying pictures and sound to understand better what the author is communicating. However, the author has not yet explained clearly how disrespecting referees contributes to the negative future behaviors of children.
Evaluation
In producing the movie, The State of Play: Trophy Kids, Peter Berg’s major goal was to educate parents on the importance of good association with their children. Having good child-parent interactions impacts children’s behavior in the village and the essence of avoiding forcing their children into sports they do not like. The director achieves his goal, whereby he guides parents on how they should act towards their children and educates children on the importance of participating in sports and respecting their parents (Macdermid, 2021). The director proved the thesis to provide evidence of his claim concerning parents having a positive relationship with their children. The movie is convincing since it uses real-life evidence to attract the audience’s attention and understand the message he is delivering.
However, The State of Play: Trophy Kids does not entertain viewers since it involves more real-life situations full of conflicts and stakes between the father and the son who is not interested in sports. The author uses adequate evidence since he connects his words with real-life circumstances. For instance, the father is not happy with his daughter’s engagement in sports as a bad example, raising a negative girl towards sports (Macdermid, 2021). The author does not make exaggerations in his arguments since he uses practical examples to make his explanations. The structure of the author’s ideas is appropriate since he gives broad reasons for his statements. He makes arguments and explanations in chronological order without jumping from one answer to another; he does not omit any questionable description.
The State of Play: Trophy Kids has various weaknesses and strengths; one of its strengths is its awareness concerning how guardians should be involved and engage in what benefits a child. Another power is that the movie indicates how sports influence children positively by making them active, well-rounded, and positive (Macdermid, 2021). Some of the movie’s weaknesses include highlighting only four parents out of the five parents who supported their children’s sports activities. The film could have revealed to more parents how they could develop a positive attitude towards their children’s sporting activities. The movie should be watched, specifically by parents with children, since it can help them coach their children on the importance of sports instead of being upset.

This assignment has supported my learning course by enabling me to acquire the knowledge required to review cinemas. The study has helped me learn different types of relationships in film and how to analyze, summarize, and evaluate a film. This movie corresponds to the knowledge I have gained from other sources, including how parents should react towards their children when angry since their reaction determines the behavior of their young.
Conclusion
Parents should avoid forcing their children to participate in sporting to offer them the options to play the athletic they like. Parents should avoid pressuring their offspring towards playing games since they are still developing and growing, and excessive pressure and yelling may influence their psychological well-being. Additionally, the children may end up having challenges when they grow. Excess pressure may contribute to high levels of stress, burnout, and family distancing from their parents.
