Choosing a Global Societal Issue
Unemployment and lack of economic opportunities are severe societal problems that require close attention to address their consequences. The interrelationships between economic, social, and political factors are important in creating a favorable environment for citizens. They are critical to achieving sustainable development goals in society and improving the building of an economically beneficial environment. The problem of unemployment and low economic opportunity can affect different individuals or entire groups. Studying the factors contributing to unemployment is vital to fully understand the ways and methods that must be used to overcome the existing problems.
Methods for Narrowing Down the Research Topic
I used various methods to compensate for the actions individually to narrow the topic to a specific and relevant one. To begin with, it is crucial to understand the large-scale problem as a whole, which contributes to a better understanding of the narrower problems in the topic. Preliminary research to discover a broad societal problem is appropriate for identifying a holistic problem. After breaking down the problem into separate issues, it was necessary to study each separately, considering its impact on people, the economy, and employment opportunities. Unemployment due to poor economic opportunities affects many social groups worldwide, but attention is focused on the interplay of two elements.
Critical Analysis of Sources: Identifying Scholarly Articles
To conduct a study, it is imperative to analyze the selected sources to determine the degree of their scientific character and expertise. One way to analyze the scientific nature of sources is to check the authority and position of the author. The qualification of the specialist who wrote the article or book must be confirmed by their achievements in the field of research. In this case, the developed information can be considered reliable.
Another verification mechanism is reviews, which must be present in order to verify the relevance before full use of the source. Articles published in peer-reviewed journals are more credible due to validation by the scientific community. The third verification mechanism is citations and references to other sources. Checking the information that has been used in an article can be helpful to ensure that the data used in the article is correct.
Supporting Evidence from Scholarly Journal Articles
Studies on the chosen topic can be supported by two scientific articles. Sudan (2021) and Cefalo et al. (2020) analyzed in detail the topic of unemployment and employment difficulties due to a lack of economic opportunities. Youth unemployment rates in South Asia have been on the rise since 2020, driven by people’s lack of skills (Sudan, 2021). However, the necessary skills had to be developed as a result of training in higher education institutions.
The lack of economic opportunities thus has a significant negative impact on young people’s ability to find employment. Cefalo et al. (2020) argue that the institutional characteristics of countries play an important role in shaping the number of employed citizens. Thus, development and economic prosperity significantly affect what kind of work a person can find in the future and the level of their wages.
The Importance of Using Scholarly Sources in Research
To support this article, it is necessary to use scientific articles in order to give more weight and relevance to the arguments presented. Substantiation of the author’s position is an integral part of the study, but it will be impossible to do this without supporting it with proven facts and theories. Expert articles and other sources are important in order to confirm that the arguments given in the work are reliable or to use exact numbers from outside the work.
