Description of the Target Behavior
I want to teach my colleagues how to communicate correctly and effectively with coworkers and management. This can be useful for establishing friendships and effectively building corporate ethics in a team.
Selected Learning Theory
For the proper training of a colleague, I would choose the theory of operant conditioning, as it is most suitable for this situation and may be the most effective option (Akpan, 2020). This concept of learning is to change a person’s behavioral patterns through their consequences. This means the colleague will learn from their mistakes, including the benefits they can get from the new communication style. This will help the person realize that their methods of communicating with people in the workplace have not always been optimal.
Ensuring Behavior Acquisition
The training approach would explain to a colleague what effective communication should be like and how good team relationships can be built. In addition, it is also worth telling them why this is an essential aspect of our work and why it is necessary to establish corporate ethics. In addition, every time a colleague made progress in their practice, I would encourage them and praise them for increasing their motivation to learn further. In the absence of progress, it is worth adjusting the method of presenting the material and choosing a different strategy.
Justification of the Chosen Approach
The presented approach was chosen because operant conditioning provides change and self-learning by demonstrating consequences. This can better convince colleagues and motivate them to achieve better results (Akpan, 2020). In addition, after each communication, my feedback on whether the communication was effective will help the person understand and correct the mistakes.
Potential Challenges and Limitations
Problems with this approach can be that it can take a long time for a colleague to demonstrate effective communication and understand the implications. Giving negative feedback can also demotivate a person if they do not take criticism well. To eliminate these risks, I should show exactly what effective communication should look like and clarify the positive consequences.
