After completing the assessment questionnaire, the result shows that my preferred working style is analytical. The outcome did not astonish me at all since the presented attribute in the evaluation aligns with my observed style of working. I believe that my analytical working style helps me and the team to remain objective and rational in the execution of daily activities at work. The love for having data-driven decisions and the urge to have a task completed from start to finish not only creates agility decisions but also inspires the team to upscale and maintain their performance.
Having an analytical working style empowers me to face work-related challenges efficiently and directly in an attempt to have seamless execution of duties that will go a long way in improving individual and organizational performance. Whereas this style of work manifests significant benefits to an individual, it presents some challenges that occasionally tend to hold me back. For instance, despite having great concentration at work, the situation can often result in communication trivialities and disregarding job planning. It is initiated to create commitment and dedication to ensure perfect results in any task at the expense of emphasizing an equally important matter of organizational communication. In this course, concentrating on personable and effective communication can form a key aspect of improvement (Thankaraju, 2020). Moreover, there is a need to enhance preparation and planning skills as a way of strengthening the analytical style.
From my viewpoint, it is easier to work with persons with an amiable working style due to their preference to communicate with colleagues in a considerate and sensitive way while remaining supportive and helpful. Moreover, amiable personalities not only imbed emotional intelligence but also tend to have excellent collaborative qualities that can easily match an analytical person towards scaling greater heights in performing duties. From my perspective, colleagues with amiable working styles will easily establish strong relationships in the workplace and embrace the opinions and feelings of everyone around. The move will easily create an effective team environment and share thoughts with analytical-oriented colleagues to improve output in the organization.
I find it difficult to work with persons with a driver’s working style. Driver personalities tend to push themselves and the team to the stretching limits, making them emphasize the job than the opinions and feelings of their colleagues. Such personalities tend to install decisive movements and stamp authority by controlling the people around them. Against this backdrop, they normally become micromanagers since they like authority and strive for accuracy in any undertaking despite the risks that might accompany such actions (Thankaraju, 2020). Therefore, working with such personalities can be a daunting task since a colleague has to toe their style or risk falling out, which will affect productivity at work.
In nearly all places of work, there are various working styles and personalities due to team diversity. In some situations, this extent of team diversity can result in conflict and miscommunication. It can also lead to the development of work solutions that are effective and creative. Therefore, it is valuable to understand colleagues’ and teammates’ working styles to enable the discovery of own approach to effectively manage any conflict and become a better team collaborator and member. Moreover, knowing colleagues’ and teammates’ personalities and working styles can result in enhanced communication, better productivity, and improved organizational culture.
