When applying for a new job, there is often a choice between starting in the middle, or at the very top. People seek pay based on what is available while referring to their perceived skills at performing said jobs (Ledic, 2018). Different ranges offer a different set of advantages and disadvantages. Middle-range pay is good for people with some skill and education, but who are not entirely familiar with the industry (Ledic, 2018). The benefit of this range is that while expectations will be set, the employee will have room for mistakes. The downside is that it will take time to grow to a higher paygrade (Ledic, 2018). The highest pay range is reserved for professionals in their fields, who can do a job well and are confident in their abilities. The benefits of this range include high starting paygrade, while disadvantages include high scrutiny and responsibility (Ledic, 2018).
