Violence is a striking problem nowadays which is obvious in society. This way of negative emotional expression is the intention that is needful for people being impulsive and unbalanced. This problem is still being discussed and researched by plenty of psychiatrists and medics. The paper is dedicated to analyzing the four points according to the problem with the clarification of peculiarities within the researched issue.
The first point touches upon the models of attitudes while demonstrating aggression and hatred and attempts to explain such behavior for further efficient approaches. Violence is defined as “any overt depiction of a credible threat of physical force or the actual use of such force intended to physically harm an animate being or group of beings.” (Lachlan et al., 2005, p. 313) When looking at societal division, today more and more cases of violence are seen on the examples of youth. The era of high technologies provided youth with media, games, video, which influence on the imagination of children and their psyche on the whole. Scenes of violence which are so popular make children gain some of the peculiarities from good and bad characters. This effect is emphasized when a child is the main hero is a definite game. “Social Cognitive Theory suggests that viewers are more likely to attend to and identify with models that are liked (Bandura, 1986), and those that are perceived as similar to themselves (Jose & Brewer, 1984).” (Cited in Lachlan et al., 2005, p. 313) Thus, a direct impact of media is one of the explanations.
Violence is a reason for societal disharmony and urges some individuals to go against the rules and order of a community. Here there is no need to tell about the biological role in maintaining violent deeds. People are not born, but become abused with violent intentions, as it is seen. It is known that some deflection of the neural system and extreme sensitivity to outside factors can be the intended impulses to express one’s attitude towards things in form of psychopathy. Moreover, society and the place where individual lives are the grave factors to make an individual hear, see, believe, and provide violence since childhood. As the psychology of a man is the main field where negative impulses can be developed, the environment and its content should be taken into account for better bringing up and nurturing of an individual.
The researchers tend to evaluate two kinds of theoretical perspectives for juvenile delinquency, namely: classical and positivism. (Onwudiwe, 2004) The first perspective explains the natural tendency of a man to feel free in actions and desires which one presupposes to implement in reality. The second type admits the immediate and effective rehabilitation and direct treatment.
David T. Lykken distinguishes three types of antisocial behavior, namely: normal, psychopathic, and sociopathic. (Lykken, 1997) Psychopathy is dangerous due to its latent character and fearlessness of a person being a psychopath. These intentions are hard to cure due to the difficult character of their nature. With regards to Lykken, the reason for this problem bears bilateral character. This assumption the scholar called “diathesis-developmental model” (p. 172) with difficult temperament corresponding to the diathesis and poor parenting corresponding to the developmental stress.” (Lykken, 1997, p.236) Hence, the social circumstances and the institute of the family are the factors that can provide more effective treatment for lessening any kind of violence and any progression of psychopathy within the youth and the rest of people on the whole.
