“America Burning” Report by National Commission

The problem of fire as an obvious hazard to people’s well-being and lives must be avoided with the help of an effective and well-functioning plan. However, as the report produced by The National Commission on fire Prevention and Control, the problem of preventing and addressing fires has represented a major concern for the U.S. as a nation for decades (6). By integrating more effective information management tools into the issue of fire prevention into the modern living context, one will be able to address the issue safely.

Though a certain portion of the findings offered in the report can be considered outdated due to the changes in the household environment that have passed since the release of the document, some of the threats remain persistent in the current setting. For instance the problem of flammable household materials that represent ab obvious threat need to be interpreted as one of the major concerns to become the central focus of the further discussion. Specifically, items made of wool, certain types of clothing, and flammable chemicals still pose a tremendous risk to the well-being of citizens one nationwide scale (The National Commission on fire Prevention and Control 53). Thus, the described problem needs to be addressed further, with more accurate and updated instructions provided to modern citizens concerning the means of minimizing the hazard of fire.

However, when discussing the nature of the problem at hand, one must recognize the fact that these are not the flammable materials themselves but the factors associated with the lack of awareness that make the specified issue particularly dangerous for American citizens. Therefore, public education must be provided to ensure that the target population is aware of the hazard, as well as the means of minimizing it and preventing instances of fire in the household context. Namely, instructions concerning keeping potentially flammable items, including household chemicals, and dangerous materials such as wool, must be provided and made readily available to all citizens (The National Commission on fire Prevention and Control 55). The proposed course of action will minimize the risk of fires in the household setting. Furthermore opportunities for people to dispose of hazardous objects, such as rags and similar items that may potentially cause fire, must be offered. Namely, disposal containers for the specified type of materials must be introduced into the present-day urban and rural settings to minimize the risk of a fire.

It is believed that the adoption of the latest data management opportunities and technologies will help disseminate information properly. Furthermore, when counteracting the problem of household fires, one should adders the issue of myths percolating the target context and preventing people from building the skills needed to prevent fire (The National Commission on fire Prevention and Control 58). In turn, the use of the available digital media, including social networks, will help reduce the harmful impact of misinformation that has been taking place for a substantial amount of time. Thus, the problem of fire in the household environment, particularly, the instances caused by exposure to chemicals and the related items, will be managed.

By incorporating enhanced standards for data management with the use of innovative data management tools and forecasting equipment, one will be able to prevent both man-made fires and those caused by natural disasters. Although fires still represent a major nationwide hazard fur to the lack of control over the prevention and management, the subject matter needs to be addressed promptly. For this purpose, the latest tools must be integrated into the current framework.
