Religious books teach people to put their hope in God. However, it does not indicate that people should not plan for the future, save, and invest money. On the contrary, the Bible accustoms religious followers to wise financial management.
It is written in Proverbs 13:11: “Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase” (The Holy Bible, 2013, p. 824). The Bible is against the money earned by false labor and deception. This proverb proves that religion encourages hard-earned money. It can be used in finance when choosing the right way to find financial resources to start a business. Very often, companies illegally start making money using stolen money. That is, corporations that do not participate in corruption and do not deceive customers will be rewarded. Employees in such an environment will try to increase the competitiveness of the entire company.
Responsible stewardship requires planning to maintain production and feed the future (Federman & Zankowski, 2022). For example, agriculture suffers from unexpected famine, climate change, and exotic pests due to irresponsible management of natural resources. Thus, Genesis 41: 34-36 (The Holy Bible, 2013, p. 63) points out that every fifth part of food from plenteous years should be “for a store to the land against the seven years of famine.” It teaches businesses always to consider possible risks like bankruptcy and save up some money for such cases.
The corporations never know about the upcoming dangers, especially in the stock market. Therefore, it is better to diversify their holdings to protect them from any financial constraints. Ecclesiastes 11:2 states: “Give a portion to seven, and also to eight” (The Holy Bible, 2013, p. 855). It promotes charity for vulnerable people when the firms have the opportunity to do so. Spreading kindness is another requirement for firms in the Bible.
According to the Bible, transparency and honesty are crucial to maintaining a business. In summary, companies that always plan and try to eliminate risks by saving and investing money succeed.
