Introduction
For many young adults, the choice to move away from home and enroll in college is testing. Ecological Systems Theory, developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner, permeates the different layers of my environment that affected this decision. This paradigm helps us understand how many environmental systems affect human development. I want to understand my life’s path better and increase my empathy for others by seeing how intricately environmental influences interact to shape people’s decisions.
Microsystem
The closest, most direct social contexts, where face-to-face contacts have a significant influence on human development, are included in the microsystem. This was mostly my family, whose unwavering encouragement and support were crucial to my decision to seek a college education. This financial support and emotional nurturing were invaluable to my academic goals and were both inspirational and practical. According to Berger (2022), these close-knit surroundings significantly determine how we develop. They offer tools and interpersonal dynamics that foster personal development.
Mesosystem
A person’s mesosystem connects different facets of their microsystems, forming a web of interrelated experiences that impact one another. The harmony between my family and high school environments best illustrates this idea. My parents’ and teachers’ collaborative connection reaffirmed the value of going to college. Exosystem
