Companies That Use Information Systems

Concerning particular businesses that utilize information systems, firstly, it is feasible to emphasize the experience of IBM. IBM, or International Business Machines Company, is considered to be a global technology corporation based in Armonk, New York. For operational, transactional, and database activities, this organization has been employing a management information system. IBM IMS is a structured data management technology system designed for continuous batching and transaction processing. By storing data on IBM, IMS utilizes ubiquitous data encryption and lowers the cost of creating deep insights. IMS technology is the use of simple unions to connect system parts into hierarchical assemblies (Nikolic, 2018). It provides enterprise-class availability, flexibility, and performance for on-premises and hybrid cloud systems. IMS is a transparent and integrated system that fosters innovation by leveraging trustworthy IMS products, activities, and data to perform numerous safe transactions at each specific period of time.

Secondly, it is possible to mention the application of information systems solutions by the company Netflix. Netflix, Inc. is an American membership streaming platform and production firm that delivers a movie and television series collection as well as its own creations through distribution arrangements. Netflix uses Alpakka-Kafka as a distinct information system for their broadcasting computing capabilities. Netflix gathers a plethora of information from a wide range of subscribers (Maddodi, 2019). It collects information, for instance, user’s location, the material they view, their preferences, the data they seek, and the time they watch (Maddodi, 2019). Its system generates a tailored suggestion depending on the user’s interests based on these characteristics (Maddodi, 2019). It offers advanced management over the streaming procedure, meets required functionality, including Netflix connection, and is compact with less lines of code. The signal fetch rate, the maximum consumer latency, and the pledged rate are three metrics of consuming performance that Kafka excels at.

Finally, it is necessary to highlight the experience of Uber in the sphere of implementing decisions based on the analysis from information systems. Uber’s technologies are built on top of big data information system platforms, which include Riak, Postgres, Redis, and MySQL. In addition, to coordinate data activities, the business is expanding MySQL with its shared column store. Uber’s data information systems include Riak, Postgres, Redis, and MySQL. Uber uses information systems for various reasons; for example, the anticipation and variance of Uber wait time are examined to determine accessibility (Wang & Mu, 2018). Uber’s confidentiality policy states that it can utilize personal details or usage information from customers, such as location, email, payment card, identity, or IP address. This is done for internal company objectives, as well as to make pickups and communication with clients more convenient.

The three abovementioned firms have a substantial impact on the modern society due to the innovative technological solutions and services proposed by them to people. IBM copes with global technologies aspects; thus, the company focuses on cutting-edge developments that assists other organizations in offering high-quality products to the society. Netflix concentrates on both creating great content and providing customers with excellent user experience after viewing television series and other products. Furthermore, Uber seeks to elaborate an ideal transportation hub that would help people resolve various logistics issues and make daily life easier. Due to the considerable use of information systems, the companies have the ability to increase the efficiency and effectiveness all business processes since proper data collection, documentation, and analysis provokes improved decision-making.
