Core Personal Values of Openness, Respect, and Embracing Diversity

Foster Openness and Trust

One of the personal core values that is important to me is “Be open and trusting rather than fearful or suspicious.” This value means that everything should be approached with reasonable openness and curiosity. This approach can help stay positive at all times (Corey et al., 2018).

Moreover, this value means that it is worth being honest with people around and with themself. For example, when a new student appears in the team and has a different approach to solving problems, many may be wary of them. However, it would be best to approach this value and get acquainted at the same time by asking about the new method.

Show Consideration and Compassion

Another personal value that is important to me is “Respect and care for others.” This value allows us to feel the world and other people differently and listen carefully to other people’s problems. Helping acquaintances whenever possible can significantly improve their lives, which, as a result, will make both parties happier (Corey et al., 2018). For example, if a friend asks to talk about something and it is clear that he is upset, then the best solution would be to ask about what happened. This will expose the problem and find a solution for it.

Value Diversity and Individuality

The third personal value I try to follow is “Respect the differences in others.” Each person has unique qualities, and all people should respect them. These features allow everyone to develop in different ways by setting goals that need to be achieved. Respect for differences can lead to a more harmonious and friendly society. For example, people may attend festivals with traditional items from cultures with which they are unfamiliar. This way, people can significantly broaden their horizons and learn to appreciate differences and diversity.

Summary

I try to constantly incorporate my core values into my life, which requires awareness and mindfulness. To successfully implement all three values, I listen carefully to people when they talk about something. In addition, I like to learn something new about other people’s cultures, which expands my knowledge of the world. Thus, I embody all the values that I try to follow.
