Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Morris County, New Jersey, the County College of Morris (CCM) has not only been a beacon of education since its inception in 1968 but has also fostered a strong community among its alums. The institution’s alumni and their association have played a pivotal role in both the college’s growth and the broader societal impact through their professional achievements, community service, and continued engagement with the college.
With over 50,000 graduates over the years, CCM stands out for its remarkable list of former students who have made their mark in diverse disciplines, including healthcare, engineering, the arts, and public service (CCM, n.d.). These alumni have not only made substantial contributions to their respective fields but have also epitomized the college’s values of continual learning and dedication to serving the community.
One notable alumnus is Cassidy Grady, a 2019 graduate who went on to become a respiratory therapist at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Reflecting on her time at CCM, Cassidy credits the college for providing her with a solid foundation in the sciences and instilling in her the importance of community involvement. “The program at CCM put my thoughts and skills to the test, and I couldn’t be more grateful for my experience,” she shared. (CCM Alumni Advocate, 2020).
The CCM Alumni Association plays a vital role in nurturing the college’s legacy among its former students. By organizing a range of activities, projects, and endeavors, the association fosters a robust bond between alumni and the institution, cultivating a sense of pride and community among its members (CCM, n.d.).
At the forefront of the association’s endeavors is the Mentorship Program, a cornerstone initiative that matches present students with alums working in similar fields. This program extends invaluable support and insights to students while allowing alums to make a significant contribution to their alma mater (CCM, n.d.). Furthermore, the Alumni Association arranges networking functions, career advancement seminars, and social gatherings, fostering enduring connections established at CCM that endure well beyond graduation. In addition, the college joined the NISOD Excellence Rewards Program (NISOD, 2020). These initiatives not only enrich the lives of alums but also bolster the college’s reputation and overall resilience.
Many CCM alums have also demonstrated their commitment to the college through generous donations and scholarships, providing current students with the resources and support they need to succeed (CCM, n.d.). These contributions have funded state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technology, and financial aid, thereby directly impacting the quality of education at CCM.
In the midst of CCM’s ongoing growth and evolution, the significance of its alumni and their association is paramount. Propelled by the vision to introduce fresh academic offerings and enhance campus amenities, the college seeks the backing, direction, and motivation of its graduates. The lasting influence of CCM’s alumni and the ongoing efforts of the Alumni Association exemplify the steadfast commitment to community, education, and service. United, they honor the accomplishments of prior alums while also laying a foundation for future generations to thrive and excel.
