Summary
Over the last decades, immigration has been experienced in various states, including the United States of America (U.S.A.). Immigration to the U.S.A. is a dream come true for any non-citizen person. According to Abrego et al. (699), it is believed that immigrating to America is an open opportunity for a better life for immigrants. It is not the case based on the rules, regulations, and guidelines that the government, lawmakers, and even the policymakers in the U.S.A. are putting across when it comes to matters of immigration. The criminalization of immigration is never to be taken lightly. This study aims to research why the United States of America is criminalizing immigration. The criminalization of immigration is becoming an alarming issue. Moreover, it brings worries among the people who have had a dream of migrating to the United States of America.
Background of the study
The criminalization of immigration is becoming a vast topic and confusing issue. Any individual who goes to America aims to secure a greener pasture and work for a better life. In America, it is believed that there is a broad scope of opportunities as far as matters of employment, work, and growth are concerned. According to Bosworth et al. (102), the extent to which the federal government aims to criminalize immigration and increase the capacity to which informant dragnet becomes very serious when propagating immigration policies, laws, and implementation mechanisms. It is making immigration look like a criminal offense done by the immigrant. This study will help establish a clear understanding that immigration is just a way of seeking better opportunities for immigrants who aim to have a good life away from their home country. Furthermore, the study will provide results that will show that immigration should not be based on stereotypical ideas. Ewing et al. (5) indicate that native-born immigrants are less likely to commit crimes or be incarcerated. It shows that high immigration rates are related to low property crime rates or violent crime; hence immigrants should not be viewed or considered criminal aliens.
Purpose of the study
The criminalization of immigration is a factor that needs to be fought against, for it profoundly affects the non-citizens of America. This paper aims to understand why Americans authorize set situations, conditions, policies, and laws mainly to criminalize immigration. If all the factors are carefully considered, what should the U.S. government adjust to give fair and equal treatment to all the people in America, both citizens and non-citizens? The aim and purpose of this study will positively impact the non-citizens of America and limit the negative picture of immigrants into the United States of America. According to Abrego et al. (35), the policies set to safeguard immigration are mostly conventional ideas and never factual. The government has set harsh and limiting rules on any non-citizen of America for any offense. It imposes fear on non-citizens, for these standards are loosened for America’s citizens.
Research Methodology
I will identify, select, and process the information from various articles and online print media. I will get information about various current trends from different online print media, which will be necessary for the research study. Additionally, the sources will help gather information from various other sources and help to get more trust in the study. Moreover, the information will help to clear my mind and understand the current trend and thoughts of the people regarding the criminalization of immigration. Using the information from these sources, I will create a solution to help in reducing the criminalization of immigration.
Limitations of the resources
The use of articles has significant limitations, such as a lack of a sufficient sample size for statistical requirements. Furthermore, there is an explicit time limitation as we are only limited to the past as all the articles were written sometime back and not in the current situation. Moreover, conflicts might arise because of cultural bias in the various regions where these studies were done and issues with selecting samples from various authors.
Importance of the study to the audience
The study of the criminalization of immigration is an essential component for American immigrants. The study will show how immigration is linked to crime rates and how immigration policies affect immigrants and immigrants’ interactions with American citizens to help solve the criminalization of immigrants. Moreover, the study will shed light on the connections between crime and other factors, such as poverty and low education. It will help in understanding crime better than linking it to immigration. This research study will be of great importance and benefit to foreign citizens planning and having migrated to the United States of America.
