The database used concerns the statistics of the current Covid-19 pandemic in the United States. Specifically, the chosen database is “Child Victims by Age”, which contains statistics on the prevalence of the disease among children in the country. The specific dataset shows the numbers and rates of child victims based on their age and state for the recent federal fiscal year.
According to the dataset page, the statistics were published on July 8, 2021, by the US Department of Health and Human Services (2021). The department provides all its details, including the contact name, email, bureau code, program code, public access level, language, license and the last day of the update. In addition, the dataset has 54 rows and 39 columns.
In the main dataset where all the statics are provided, the 39 rows provide the labels for the ages of the children starting from those below the age of one to those aged 17 and the unborn. From here, the columns represent the statistical aspects rates of child victims per 1,000 children in the country for each age (U.S. Department of Health, 2021). The filters allow one to sort the data based on such aspects as the state of the victim, such as unborn, below 1 year, above one, and so on. The filters added include “is not”, “is”, “contains”, “does not contain”, “starts with”, and “is blank”.
The visualization tool allows one to access the data as presented in various techniques such as bar graphs, pie charts, histograms, timelines, combo charts, bar charts, scatter charts, maps, and calendars. Each technique presents data based on certain criteria. For example, the bar graph and bar chart present data based on the distribution of child victims based on age, such as the number of victims per 1,000 children at the age of 1. These presentations are provided in the charts attached to this paper.
