Effects of Human Activities on the Global Climate

Global climate change results from changes in the Earth’s atmosphere over a long time. Several factors contribute to climate change, two of which are the presence of air pollutants and cloud cover. Both of these factors are associated with human activities. The climate is altered directly due to the imbalance on Earth due to greenhouse gas effects. Changes in the quantities or characteristics of the various gases and particles that comprise the atmosphere can have far-reaching consequences for the global climate. Human-caused factors contributing to the progression of global climate change include agricultural practices, the consumption of fossil fuels as a result of industrialization, and forest destruction.

Agricultural activities are human actions that are essential for the survival of humanity due to their positive contribution to food production, an essential requirement. Although these activities have a positive impact, increasing the amount of food grown on land used for agricultural purposes necessitates a more practical application of nitrogen-based fertilizers. They result in nitrous oxide and methane gas emissions from decaying crops, contributing to climate change. As a result, agriculture contributes significantly to human-caused climate change. However, reducing emissions from agricultural practices, mainly methane and nitrous oxide, is critical to mitigating the effects of climate change.

Industrialization refers to human-based activities that have significantly ensured that people live comfortably while efficiently completing their routine tasks. Industrialization activities have significantly increased fossil fuel consumption due to human activities such as coal and oil combustion. This activity, which occurs regularly, contributes significantly to the effects of greenhouse gases. The industrialization has been responsible for releasing significant amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere since the beginning of the industrial revolution. As a result, artificial warming has occurred, resulting in a significant rise in the temperature of the Earth over a relatively short period, causing climate change.

Trees play an essential role in maintaining healthy air quality because they can take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it. Human activities of cutting down trees for purposes other than timber production result in deforestation, releasing previously sequestered carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, further contributing to climate change. Clearing land for agricultural purposes disrupts the planet’s ability to regulate the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, speeding up global climate change. Forests are essential in mitigating climate change because they remove carbon from the atmosphere. Therefore, reforestation is necessary to protect against deforestation’s adverse effects and avoid harmful effects.

In conclusion, human activities such as industrialization, deforestation, and agriculture have contributed to the change in the global climate. Even though these activities are essential to the continued existence of humanity, the realized climate changes are harmful and have a devastating effect on humanity as a whole. It presents a dilemma since the activities have become a way of life. However, they need to be regulated to ensure that the resulting climate change no longer poses a risk to the continued existence of humanity.
