Facebook and Twitter are two giants of social networks that help the world’s population to communicate with a large group of people. It helps to share your views, ideas, information, news, location and other such things. Comparing these two social media platforms is quite a challenge because they are very different and both are useful in their own way. While Facebook is more focused on establishing social connections, Twitter is constantly updated and centered on modern realities.
In a comparative analysis, we can conclude that the main competitor for Twitter is currently Facebook. The global audience of Facebook, according to the end of the second quarter of 2020, is almost a third of the world’s population – about 2.6 billion active users per month, which is 11% more than a year earlier. Revenue for 2019 increased from $55.8 billion a year earlier to $70.7 billion, by 25% in the quarter to $21.1 billion. Facebook has been able to increase both the number of users of their products and the amount of time they spend on the platforms, which has led the company to increase the value of the company’s shares.
At the same time, every year you can observe a steady increase in Facebook revenue. In 2018, Facebook’s revenue was $55.838 billion (up 47%), profit – $6.43 billion. Twitter’s annual revenue in 2018 was $3.04 billion. A year ago, it was equal to 2.44 billion dollars. A net loss of $108 million from 2017 was replaced by a net profit of $1.2 billion in 2018. However, this company has not seen such a sharp growth as Facebook. Thus, we can conclude that Facebook is the main competitor of Twitter, having higher earnings from year to year.
