The organization of the police department is an integral part of the city and city life. The excellent organization of the police station effectively results in their work. In this way, the reorganization of the station can have a positive effect on improving the work of police officers. The essence of reorganization is to improve the organization and its efficient execution. This paper will examine whether reorganization is an essential and necessary step to improve the department’s performance.
The essential part is the existing situation and to understand the need for reorganization of this department. This division of labor is critical in forming the attitude to work and ensuring that everything is built according to the logistical plan (Dempsey and Forst 33). This logistics plan should include the fact that all departments the department are involved and have the opportunity to realize themselves. Analyzing this existing department, one can conclude that all 100 officers should be affected; theoretically, they work like that. Each is part of a particular group with its responsibility and occupation. In this way, evenly distributed work primarily motivates employees to work efficiently and generally motivates them to work for a positive result.
Authority is also part of working in such structures like a police. It is essential to understand here that, according to the information provided, credibility should be something worth bringing back to this police station because the previous commissioner was not competent enough (Dempsey and Forst 35). Restoring authority to the commissioner position is essential from the point that people in such a structure should work fruitfully and equally; no exception can be made for just one person (Dempsey and Forst 40). It can be assumed that when the commissioner performs his duties and the rest of the station, the police officers will also be motivated to do better.
Delegating responsibility and authority is the next important step in the organization of the work process. Analyzing the information provided, one can conclude that the department already has, but the continuation of such a system is vital for further developing the working atmosphere (Dempsey and Forst 47). Precise coordination and explanation of individual working nuances will help to complete the work efficiently. Although the city does not have significant problems with the law, it is worth developing a clear division of actions to record and correct even the most minor violations.
“Civil service system” – police powers have a broad context, but this should use them correctly. Such a system primarily pays attention not to how a police officer works but to his abilities and how he uses them (Dempsey and Forst 40). For a small town, it is challenging to implement such a system since there are not many serious crimes that would manifest a large part of the abilities of a simple officer. However, this is a vital initiative to apply new methods for developing police work.
Making specific changes to the civil service system is vital for several reasons. First, that is worth understanding that such a system is outdated and needs improvement (Dempsey and Forst 43). Secondly, the police system and the department should understand modern realities and try to improve to allow employees to develop and learn new things (Rowe 123). And the third important part, such a system involves a lot of political influence; instead, “The Civil Service System” allows this influence to be somewhat reduced or even avoided altogether (Dempsey and Forst 48). Therefore, despite the effectiveness of the modern system, it is worth moving forward and thinking about people.
Although there are many different possible changes proposed to improve the police system, it is worth remembering that their work must be practical. When developing specific changes in the department, it is necessary to analyze all the following steps and actions to understand that each police officer has a plan for their work (Dempsey and Forst 51). Each police officer should have a specific job and responsibility. To improve and modernize the police system, it is first of all worth paying attention to how to organize the employees’ work of such a service correctly.
Structuredness is essential to any department, as its effectiveness depends on it. For the organization of a police station, it is helpful to involve people who know how to sort police officers by functions, and they should not overlap (Pepper, and McGrath 23). “Police departments, like all organizations, should be organized by functions or goals” (Dempsey and Forst 48). That is an essential component since each officer has the competence and is vital in only one area, so it is crucial that such a system works well and gives results.
In conclusion, that reforming a specific structure should first be approached seriously. After look over every detail in a particular department because it is essential to understand the system. In the case of the police, in principle, there is an excellent choice regarding the modernization and reformation of the structure because it is worth introducing changes step by step. Often, in such systems, there are fixed laws and principles. Accordingly, it is worth modernizing individual structures regardless of politics and creating an environment for the development of their employees.
