Job Dissatisfaction and Burnout of Nurses

Qualitive Research

Dall’Ora, C., Ball, J., Reinius, M., & Griffiths, P. (2020). Burnout in nursing: A theoretical review. Human resources for health, 18(1), pp. 1-17. Web.

Primarily, this study is quantitative since it analyzes specialized literature and scientific research. The research question posed by the writers directly concerns the relationship between nurses’ burnout and other various factors and phenomena (Dall’Ora et al., 2020). The study sample was affected by services such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, and PsycINFO. The sample size included 91 single papers, most of which were cross-sectional studies. Moreover, the attributes and characteristics of this “example” included such indicators as the applicability, urgency, and relevance of a topic written in English. The sample was based on the search and study of literature, its further interpretation, synthesis, and data analysis. In fact, the process and progress of this work were not limited to certain boundaries. Among other things, the scientists worked together while in the UK or Sweden. Each of the authors wrote the article and contacted each other in correspondence form. The “investigators” of the work came to the conclusion that unfavorable, adverse and disappointing working conditions affect the formation and development of burnout of nursing personnel.

Quantitative Research

Ribeiro, E. K. D. A., Santos, R. C. D., Araújo-Monteiro, G. K. N. D., Brandão, B. M. L. D. S., Silva, J. C. D., & Souto, R. Q. (2021). Influence of burnout syndrome on the quality of life of nursing professionals: Quantitative study. Revista Brasileira De Enfermagem, 74(3), pp. 1-6. Web.

It should be noted that this study is quantitative since its authors use a questionnaire methodology that allows them to identify more accurate, reliable information about their goals and objectives. The research question posed by the scientists is to clarify and assess the prevalence and causes associated with job dissatisfaction and burnout of nurses. In total, the sample included 84 specialists practicing their activities while in emergency departments. As an attribute of this sample, questionnaires based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory and SF-36 scale are included. Moreover, the facts and details obtained were successfully interpreted due to descriptive and logical statistics. The “investigation” was conducted directly in several emergency departments in the city of Campina Grande-PB, in Brazil. The results and conclusions of the researchers demonstrate the widespread prevalence of burnout symptoms among health care workers (Ribeiro et al., 2021). Furthermore, the main factors that influenced this “disease” include social phenomena, dissatisfaction with the quality of life, and working conditions.
