Introduction
Healthcare managers are responsible for ensuring the successful operation of healthcare organizations. They oversee the organization’s daily operations, manage staff, and provide quality patient care. These employees are responsible for a wide range of tasks, and their role is vital in ensuring the success of hospitals. Thus, the functions of healthcare managers are based on creating comprehensive plans and ensuring efficient and quality care.
Healthcare Management
In general, healthcare managers have several management functions. First, healthcare managers must create a plan for their organization to help them achieve their goals (Buchbinder et al., 2019). For example, a healthcare manager may develop a plan to reduce client waiting times in the ER. Then, managers must organize staff, equipment, and supplies (Buchbinder et al., 2019). For example, a manager may organize staff schedules to ensure enough nurses are on duty.
Moreover, such employees must lead by example and provide staff with resources and support (Buchbinder et al., 2019). For instance, a healthcare manager might offer staff members opportunities for training and development to advance their abilities. Finally, healthcare managers must monitor patient outcomes and enhance care (Buchbinder et al., 2019). For example, a healthcare manager may implement a new process for managing patient medications to reduce errors.
One modern-day issue affecting healthcare managers’ abilities to ensure high-performance organizations is the shortage of hospital staff. The need for healthcare services is increasing, yet there is a shortage of healthcare personnel due to the aging population and the rise in chronic illnesses (Stimpfel et al., 2020). This shortage can make it challenging for healthcare managers to provide quality care to patients.
One scripture that applies to this issue is Isaiah 41:10, which says, “So do not fear, for I am with you […] I will strengthen you and help you” (Bible, n.d.). This passage tells nurses that they should not fear the obstacles they experience but rely on God to supply them with the strength and support they need to handle problems.
Conclusion
Hence, healthcare managers’ tasks are centered on making comprehensive strategies and ensuring the efficiency and quality of services. They play a critical role in ensuring the success of healthcare organizations. They must perform the main management tasks of the organization: directing, managing, and planning. Nonetheless, contemporary problems such as the lack of healthcare personnel might make it difficult for healthcare administrators to deliver high-quality treatment.
