Reflection on the MPH Program
The Master of Public Health (MPH) program has significantly enhanced my academic and professional knowledge and skills. First, it reinforced my understanding of the importance of using evidence-based approaches for public health interventions. The use of evidence-based practices and methods validated by researchers is one of the determining factors for successful integration of interventions and predictable results.
Therefore, I try to use current findings and results that are of decisive importance in this area. Moreover, MPH taught me to critically evaluate research, integrate results from different research, and implement them in practice. I measure my success in this area by the effectiveness of the measures I implement and by receiving positive feedback on my performance based on professional standards.
In addition, the training significantly developed my leadership and effective project management skills. It involves monitoring the team’s performance, delegating tasks based on team members’ expertise and competencies, setting clear goals, and tracking ongoing results. Moreover, MPH helped me realize that effective leadership is about control and the ability to properly motivate team members and align their interests with the project’s goals. It also involves using systems-thinking skills, which allow one to look at a problem holistically and find optimal solutions. Working with colleagues has significantly improved my understanding of the leadership role and developed my skills. I measure my leadership success by assessing team dynamics, project results, and peer feedback on my management approaches.
Finally, MPH involves collaboration with professionals from different fields within interdisciplinary teams. This type of interaction helped me better understand the importance of teamwork and collaborative efforts in achieving positive change in public health. I learned to value diverse perspectives, communicate effectively across disciplines, and leverage collective expertise to develop complex solutions. For me, success in this area is determined by the level of cooperation achieved, where the expertise of each professional in a specific field is essential to achieving a common result. In addition, when assessing my results, I take into account the network I established with other specialists, which will help me more effectively address public health problems through the exchange of experience and knowledge in the future.
Learning Goals Beyond the Program
Although the program has significantly developed my professional skills and personal qualities, I understand the importance of continuous learning and improvement. For example, public health policy is constantly evolving and improving, offering new solutions to health problems. The MPH program provided me with a basic understanding of the field. However, I would like to explore the field more thoroughly. Understanding the nuances and features of public health policies and regulations is critical to expanding the positive impact of my work. With expertise and sufficient competencies, I could participate in developing policies and promoting public health.
To fill knowledge gaps, I plan to attend courses and workshops and participate in mentorship programs focused on policy analysis. In addition, I constantly analyze current policies and study expert opinions to increase my knowledge in this area. My lifelong learning plan includes monitoring new research in public health and attending conferences and other professional events to exchange ideas and developments. Networking and sharing knowledge with other professionals are two of the main factors contributing to continuous self-development. In addition, I plan to continually improve my skills and learn new aspects of public health through courses and seminars. Finally, I plan to seek mentorship and participate in research projects under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn and improve their practices and methods.
