Introduction
How challenging it is to find yourself and finally be free, but once you do it, everything starts making sense, and life just becomes more straightforward and happier. Every life experience shapes everyone’s personality in some way, leading one to realize life’s purpose, principles, priorities, and inspirations. Therefore, it seems of utmost importance for me to analyze my personal values along with daily practices to understand what brings happiness and motivates me to become a better version of myself.
Main body
Defining personal values helps create a purposeful life and learn how to make hard decisions, and set healthy boundaries between primary life spheres. As for me, I find career development crucial, but not something I cannot live without. Actually, I value my friends and family more, considering that personal connections seem relaxing and inspirational. Furthermore, communication with my close ones is detrimental to my self-development and finding purpose in my life. J. D. Moyer (Getting to Know Yourself, Finally) claims that personal understanding values also “create cognitive dissonance with the current reality,” which further helps a person set boundaries between work, family, friends, and hobbies. That is why setting boundaries between personal relationships and my career are essential to finding a balance and thriving in both spheres of my life.
Daily practices are all about finding energy and motivation to thrive and develop oneself. Naturally, I find peace in my daily rituals as they help me relax and find my true purpose, along with moving on from harmful experiences and analyzing them to be calmer. Personally, I prefer to spend my free time reading books, considering that they help me not only learn from the characters’ mistakes but imagine myself in their shoes and explore endless possibilities. I love that I can become someone else when I am reading since it assists me in reducing my anxiety and extracting myself from reality to be in my head for some time. Furthermore, such daily practices help me think about crucial decisions and responsibilities and, most importantly, learn something new that I can use to develop meaningful relationships, find balance, and set my goals.
Summary
To sum up, such methods of finding one’s true purpose as asking questions and trying to form answers concerning different spheres of one’s life, help people double happiness and find themselves in this big world. I found this practice helpful, considering that now I feel more confident about my boundaries and understand what makes me motivated to thrive and develop myself. Furthermore, many people also might find comfort in getting to know themselves by analyzing their values, preferences, and goals.
