My Way of Balancing Responsibilities

Nowadays the tempo of life is becoming faster for the modern world requires a person’s performing many tasks. That is why people try to find a way to manage their time in order to deal with all the problems and responsibilities successfully.

There exist courses, programs, and books that suggest ways to balance studies, work, family, and other responsibilities. However, in my opinion, every person should develop an individual strategy on the basis of the measures offered by psychologists and other specialists because all people have different occupations and schedules. The purpose of this paper is to identify and describe the step I take to find time for all the important things in my life.

In fact, my method of combining studying, working, and communicating with my family is following the daily regimen. I know exactly how many minutes or hours I will need for every activity and do not worry about missing something or being late for I have allocated enough time for each occupation. My routine includes working for Rockaway Adult Social Center, having rest, spending time with family which consists of 2 brothers, mother, and father, and studying. I usually wake up by 6:30 a.m.; the first thing I do is morning devotion prayer. Next go taking shower, grooming, and getting ready for work; these procedures take circa 40 minutes. I leave home by 7:30 a.m. and walk to the bus station for 5 minutes. Approximately at 9:00 a.m., I get to work and start doing my chores for the Social Center.

My workday makes 6 hours; I close at 3 p.m. and take a bus back home. On returning to my house at 5:00 p.m. I have a shower and spend some time with my family. Then goes dinner at 8:00 p.m. and relaxing in the living room. In the evening, I also set aside some time for studies; I normally do school tasks in my room and read from 10:00 to 11:30 p.m. before going to bed. As you can see, I devote considerable time to work but also study at Penn Foster. Besides, I believe that having free time and communicating with family are very important for avoiding stresses and depression that are caused by a tight schedule. That is why I always include having rest to my schedule; it helps me to stay motivated and active and combine working and studying successfully.

Speaking about how I developed the routine described, it took me some time to research the ways of balancing rest and responsibilities and figure out what is right for me. Nowadays, many specialists advise doing several things at once for the purpose of saving time, for example, working out and listening to educative podcasts (Heath 30).

In spite of the fact that this strategy might help some people, it does not suit me because in my opinion, to do something well it is necessary to stay concentrated on one subject. Hence, I have defined how much time I need for every piece of my daily routine without trying to combine them and allocated time accordingly.

To sum up it is significant to press the point that every person should choose among the variety of strategies of time management the variant that suits him or her best. Then it is necessary to customize it in accordance with the lifestyle and occupation for there are no solutions that are perfect for everyone. As for me, I do not accept the approach of multi-tasking. In order to balance school, work, and family, I have developed a daily regimen that I follow precisely. It helps me to find time for all the significant things in my life.
