The necessity to develop an airport infrastructure that meets current demand is a driving force for the NGATS. Therefore, the regular advancements that include adequate security, agile air traffic, environment protection, and capacity expansion may increase customer satisfaction. Overall, it is of utmost importance to analyze the current operating system of the NGATS to understand how it can be developed in the future with the benefit to the customers and the NGATS as well.
To begin with, security has been one of the most critical values of the NGATS initialization and further development. As a result, it is essential to advance security management across data communication and automation (Delgado et al., 2020). The advancement of technologies to succeed in achieving the aforementioned result is a must, though it need not affect the affordability for the clients. What is more, safety considerations are to remain a priority not only within the land-based structures but in the air (Delgado et al., 2020). The safety analyses should be conducted using appropriate technology and devices to ensure that they can assist in monitoring everything that happens on board.
Moreover, human systems integration is not less crucial, considering that it optimizes system performance. To be more exact, the directions of development here can be multiple, starting with how it impacts human safety and performance. The mitigation of human error conditions should be reached, which can be done by employing technology that either eliminates the repercussions in these cases or informs the respective management to tackle the issues. The need to reduce human activity in the air transportation system is evident, considering that the number of accidents or emergencies may be decreased (Delgado et al., 2020). However, it is critical not to completely transition into technology control as it is also faulty and should be supervised by trained specialists.
Unfortunately, technological advancement provoked cybersecurity and information control problems. Therefore, the NGATS must focus on developing organizational understanding in order to manage the aforementioned risks that can happen to systems, assets, capabilities, and data (Delgado et al., 2020). Furthermore, the delivery of essential infrastructure services can be reached by implementing practical and reliable safeguards into the system. Obviously, it is always beneficial to be ready for cyber attacks and to indicate them as soon as they happen to reduce the time and gravity of consequences after the risk is eliminated (Delgado et al., 2020). As a result, the development of the appropriate technology is critical to ensure the protection of the NGATS database and avert data leakage that can harm the organization’s reputation or reliability. The implementation of the actions designed to take action regarding an ongoing cyber attack can reduce time spent on tackling the issue and save resources.
However, as the world changes, everything has to adjust to new settings and circumstances. Therefore, the development plant should be a constant stage for the NGATS as in order to cater to the customers’ needs, regular analyses of the market and clients’ expectations are required. The transformational strategies must first and foremost address the current demand in the air transportation system and explore its complexity. Overall, the following matters should still remain a priority no matter how the market changes: safety, security management, adequate transportation, and local/worldwide capacity. If the NGATS focuses on advancing the operating system by constantly revisiting the development plans for the points above, it is likely to achieve its goals of modernizing the USA national air transportation system.
