Undoubtedly, teachers need to carry out pre-assessments to create different learning activities and determine students’ progress. Pre-assessments can help teachers increase classroom productivity and make the process of learning more engaging. Moreover, observing children interacting and gaining knowledge contributes to a better understanding of useful teaching approaches. Therefore, teachers should pay more attention to pre-assessments, which can boost their performance and make their practice more enjoyable.
The results of pre-assessments are likely to make a positive impact on targeted learning activities. “A well-designed pre-assessment could offer teachers crucial insights into what experiences students bring to learning tasks and furnish the basis for planning truly meaningful instruction” (Guskey, 2018). Teachers’ complete understanding of what students already know and how they apply their knowledge can make the teaching-learning process more effective and creative. Pre-assessments of students’ ongoing learning can be successfully conducted by either observing children in the classroom environment or watching class videos and taking notes. It is crucial to pay attention to specific details such as students’ gestures and exclamations to make the most of the process. Besides, pre-assessments and learning objectives must be aligned, as it is always essential for educators to follow the rules, which regulate their critical responsibilities. Nevertheless, students’ interest should be a priority for teachers, as its absence can make the teaching-learning process extremely unproductive. Hence, recognizing children’s emotions, gestures, and phrases is useful in designing pre-assessments and creating targeted teaching activities.
In conclusion, observing children during the lesson on seasons is valuable, as it can be implemented in my future teaching practice. Without any doubt, it proved that pre-assessments could make the teaching-learning process highly productive and creative. What is more, I have realized that it is crucial to observe students’ emotions and phrases. They help determine their interest and design the next learning activities more successfully. Therefore, teachers need to adopt pre-assessments to improve their performance and enjoy their practice more.
