Online Learning as an Integral Component of the Education System

Online education has become an integral component of today’s learning system in schools. The students who cannot afford, access, and attend physical classes opt to leverage online classes to ensure they complete their courses on time (Busteed, 2019). Online education’s success is attributable to the numerous benefits it offers to the learners considering they can manage their time and engage in other activities. For example, students taking online courses can engage in activities like work, and receive feedback more frequently and faster. A survey done by the Babson/College Board established that about 77% of authority figures in the academic sphere believed online courses were superior or equal to physical classrooms (Busteed, 2019). The study’s findings point to the growing investment made in online learning and how it is a crucial pillar for long-term education (Busteed, 2019). The essay will examine how online learning has become an integral component of the education system, considering the growing number of leaders who consider it to be a preferred choice and offers more benefits compared to the physical classroom model.

The proponents of the traditional learning model justify their claims using several arguments. The supporters of the physical classroom approach posit that it enables the interaction of learners with teachers, enabling the development of social cues and integration (Chyr et al., 2017). Although the approach has its benefits, online courses can allow for a customized learning experience since progress is dependent on student ability and requirements. The online classes are smaller in size, and teachers develop metrics to evaluate the students and activities to encourage their participation (Chyr et al., 2017). The impact of the small classes in online education is an improved success rate and a positive impact on schools since they can better manage the teaching process (Busteed, 2019). For instance, schools can cut back on their infrastructure investment, ensuring better returns on their resource expenditure.
