Major Points of the Article
The article “Respiratory Infection and the Impact of Pulmonary Immunity on Lung Health and Disease” offers useful ideas that can improve the health of many people. According to Mizgerd (2012, p. 824), “pulmonary immunity defends the respiratory system from various diseases and microbes”.
This fact explains why pulmonary immunity (PI) is a central aspect of every person’s health. The article explains how PI changes depending on the microbes or infections encountered in the lung. A “new order” emerges after the respiratory system is infected by microbes. This development helps the pulmonary system to resist new microbes and diseases.
The “T cells, blood, and nasal tissues in the lungs respond to various diseases” (Mizgerd, 2012, p. 827). According to the article, the lung develops new heterotypic immunity whenever there is an infection. This development determines the manner in which the body system responds to different exposures and microbes. Pulmonary immunity also changes whenever a person experiences new forms of stress. Aging is another factor that affects the effectiveness of every respiratory system.
The pulmonary system has unique pathways such as structural and immune cells. These cells “contribute to the development, regeneration, and repair of the lung after injury” (Mizgerd, 2012, p. 827). Inflammatory injuries and diseases affect the effectiveness of different cellular pathways. However, the pathways responsible for various defense roles are not properly understood. This situation explains why scholars and researchers should study these pathways in order to treat every lung infection or injury (Mizgerd, 2012).
This article explains how the pulmonary system responds to various diseases. The system evolves in order to deal with various pathogens and microbes that can affect its performance. Many scholars are currently “analyzing how PI deals with various diseases and microbes” (Mizgerd, 2012, p. 828).
However, some questions “are unanswered regarding the number of molecules, cells, and responses that deal with various diseases in the respiratory system” (Mizgerd, 2012, p. 828).
Caregivers should examine every measurable step in order to support their patients. This fact explains why “the area of PI should become the best area of research prioritization and professional development” (Foster et al., 2013, p. 204). New studies will produce innovative medicines and approaches in order to deal with different respiratory diseases (Foster et al., 2013).
How the Information will Impact My Nursing Practice
Medical practitioners should be ready to deal with the diseases affecting their clients. Many inflammatory diseases “of the lung cause many deaths in every corner of the world” (Foster et al., 2013, p. 206). An abnormal or ineffective immune system will result in many disorders. This development makes it impossible for the body to deal with various infections.
The pathways existing in the lung will determine the manner in which the body fights different diseases (Foster et al., 2013). This knowledge explains why scholars should identify the effectiveness of different research findings. The approach will deal with a wide range of lung infections.
According to Treas and Wilkinson (2014, p. 76), “there has been an increasing interest in the specific role played by miRNAs in the human respiratory system”. These compounds make it easier for the system to tackle different viral and bacterial infections.
New findings “will improve pathogen-clearance from the respiratory system” (Mizgerd, 2012, p. 827). This approach will ensure the body deals with various diseases that cause premature deaths. This gap explains why scholars should undertake new studies in order to deal with various pulmonary complications.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) can improve their competencies and philosophies by examining the ideas presented in the above article. Nurses can analyze the pathways associated with PI. This knowledge will make it easier for caregivers to explore the challenges affecting many people. The article equips nurses with new concepts that can tackle various pulmonary infections.
The respiratory system is capable of regulating itself in order to defend the body from various microbes. However, the mechanisms and pathways associated with this process are still unclear. Caregivers should examine new study findings in order to improve their competencies (Foster et al., 2013). This approach will make it possible for them to support every patient.
Pulmonary immunity is something critical because “it explores the patho-physiology of different diseases” (Daniels & Nicoll, 2012, p. 8). The article has also examined the issue of aging and stress. These two factors weaken the body’s PI. These factors can make it impossible for the human body to deal with various diseases of the respiratory system. I strongly believe that the information presented in the article will make it easier for me to deal with stress.
Many patients encounter different forms of stress and challenges. Stress results from different factors such as “lack of support, ineffective nursing methods, poor attention, and unfriendly environmental conditions” (Daniels & Nicoll, 2012, p. 8). I will use these ideas to ensure my patients deal with stress.
I will also identify new sources of stress. This approach will present powerful stress-coping strategies in order to address the expectations of every patient. This practice will also ensure every elderly person has a powerful pulmonary immunity (PI). This development will produce the best outcomes and reduce the rate of mortality.
I am planning to undertake new studies in order to improve the experiences of my patients. My studies focus on different issues such as the relationship between stress and pulmonary immunity. It is agreeable that the article has offered adequate discussion on this topic. The issue of stress is undeniable because it affects the health conditions of many patients (Daniels & Nicoll, 2012).
I will use evidence-based ideas in order to deal with stress among my clients. I will also examine the potential causes of stress among individuals with pulmonary infections. I will identify various stress-coping methods and practices in order to ensure my clients get the best health outcomes. I will also identify new resources and books in order to become a professional nurse.
This information and knowledge will make it easier for me to deal with the challenges affecting my patients (Daniels & Nicoll, 2012). The ideas and knowledge gained from these studies will encourage more nurses to treat their patients in a professional manner.
Concluding Remarks
Nurses should deal with the major factors affecting the integrity and effectiveness of pulmonary immunity. I will use the best ideas in order to deal with stress because it affects the effectiveness of PI. This approach will produce the best results. Scholars can also undertake new studies in order to develop better Disease Management Practices (DMPs). The above discussion will improve my competencies as a nurse. I will work with different practitioners in order to support the health needs of my patients.
