Pursuing Education in a Supply Chain

As I am about to get my Master’s degree, it is evident that further plans are to be prepared and executed. Nowadays, many companies prioritize their employees’ knowledge of the industry (O’Byrne, 2017). Logistics Supply Chain Management is a relatively new sector, which continues to grow and develop. According to Smith, “the importance of logistics and supply chain management has grown significantly” (2019). In every industry, there is a chain of goods and products that need to be produced, delivered, and stored. That is why it is critical to have a proper education in this field in order to be an efficient and effective manager who can take care of all issues.

As for me, I wish to pursue a certificate in Supply Chain Management as it can help me to achieve my primary career goals. I want to be prepared for a complex role of manager, increase my skills in operation of various systems that work in a supply chain. Moreover, I wish to expand my knowledge, improve, and test my critical thinking and the ability to solve different problems. Furthermore, in my future education I wish to apply my own creativity and innovation skills to become a better professional. (Romanovs & Merkuryev, 2019) In order to achieve these goals, I am certain that I have to take additional courses in business logistics and operations research.

However, there are also some requirements that I have to meet before pursuing a certificate. First of all, I have to provide evidence that I have a relevant academic degree or professional certification level. In addition, I have to apply my knowledge in business transportation management, global alliances, and international supply chain management, so that I can pass the entering exams. Nevertheless, I am sure that the amount of information that I got while pursuing my Master’s Degree is more than sufficient to begin attaining this certification. During those years, I’ve learned to work as a team leader, manage projects, and create models for reducing costs while increasing the benefits for companies. I am happy that I have got a chance to get my Master’s degree; however, I want to pursue my educational and career path further.

This certification will certainly help me in the future, as with it, I will get the opportunity to work in a higher position at the company. After all, this industry is rapidly increasing and developing. According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics (2018), “employment of logisticians is projected to grow 5 percent from 2018 to 2028, about as fast as the average for all occupations”. Moreover, as the field of logistics becomes more complicated, more companies are in dire need of an educated employee (Varkonyi, 2017). It is evident that this trend will continue to grow; therefore, I need to keep up with rising demands in order to be a desired professional.

In conclusion, it would appear that getting a Master’s degree and a certification will certainly help me to achieve my career goals. The market for supply chain managers constantly offers a variety of opportunities to pursue a profession, so it is hard to pick a particular target. However, I am confident in my wish to attain a high managing position at a supply company, demonstrate my leadership qualities, and provide businesses with excellent service.
