The study in question will be particularly useful in determining the effects that racism has had on the current issues in the relationships between the representatives of cultural minorities and the White population. Particularly, the article will allow shaping the relationship dynamics between a White healthcare provider and a person of color so that the needs of the latter could be met accordingly. Seeking to examine different types of racism and their effects on the development of relationships in a diverse community based on Baraka’s plays, Azouz conducts primary qualitative research to find that racism is typically represented in two main ways in Baraka’s works. Namely, the propositional (extrinsic) and dispositional (intrinsic) racism types are depicted as the manifestations of prejudices and hatred toward African American people. The profound analysis of the subject matter is the main strength of the study, whereas the fact that the analysis was restricted to two plays only suggests that the problem at hand could have been explored further. Nonetheless, Azouz’s work has been crucial in understanding the main premises of racism and how it occurs. Thus, a better understanding of its impact on African American women’s access to healthcare will be possible.

Pregnancy complications remain some of the most serious threats to women’s health, which is why early identification of a potential problem may help save a life. A study by Kwesiga et al. points to the fact that the identification of risks during pregnancy remains one of the key public health concerns (2). The study by Kwesiga et al. applies primary qualitative research to identify the barriers to reporting pregnancy-related issues in vulnerable populations. Using the EN-INDEPTH tool as the main method of collecting and assessing data, the researchers conclude that sociocultural and spiritual beliefs served as the main constraints t reporting pregnancy and the related issues. The study in question had significant strengths, primarily, the use of the EN-INDEPTH tool as the means of increasing the accuracy of data collection. However, the sample size of 172 women cannot be considered sufficient to make long-lasting conclusions. Nevertheless, the study was important for developing a clear concept of health issues faced by minority groups. Therefore, the research can be used to chart a framework for addressing the main obstacles accordingly and ensuring that cultural barriers do not stand in the way of receiving proper care.

Another study on the issue of limitations that vulnerable groups face in the present-day context, the research by Naughton et al. examines the factors that shape people’s perception of domestic violence. Targeted particularly at the experiences of young people, the paper demonstrates the clear presence of two main themes, namely, the attempt at grasping the very concept of domestic violence and defining it as such after it has occurred; and the challenge of discussing the instances of domestic violence with mothers. The study applies the primary qualitative research method and thematic analysis indicates that the presence of stigma serves as a particularly strong constraint, whereas the increase in the intensity of domestic violence raises the probability of it being discussed despite the emerging barriers. The main strengths of the research concern the use of actual lived experiences of victims of domestic violence, which has helped to approach the issue directly. However, the use of interviews as a data collection tool has also reduced the accuracy of the data due to the probability of misinterpretation. Overall, the research outcomes can be used to address the barriers to providing mental health support and safeguarding options to vulnerable populations.
