The decision of the Supreme Court to ban abortions and give states the right to decide on their local level whether they want to prohibit it or not is an example of a civil legal issue. “Supreme Court’s abortion ruling sets off new court fights” was published by Associated Press in US News on June 27, 2022. The author of the article state that judges have imposed a temporary ban on abortion in Utah and Louisiana, and the South Carolina federal court judges promise to react to this issue at the nearest time. The text describes the history of the fight for abortion rights in the United States, the Roe v. Wade decision of the Supreme Court that made abortion the constitutional right for all women. The discussed article tracks the progress of legal issues on the state level concerning abortion rights.
The article describes the relevant topic that is among the most discussed issues in the United States, which is the reason why I chose it. I’m afraid I have to disagree with the decision of the Supreme Court to ban abortion because I think that it will lead to an increasing number of deaths from illegal abortions. This legal decision deprives women of the right to make decisions concerning their body and life and does not allow them to receive qualified medical help in case of abortion. It is unlikely that those children born in families where no one wants them will become happy people and prolific citizens. Moreover, I think the ban on abortions is opposite to the idea of equality, which supposes that all people have the same rights in society. Equality is the basis of American culture, and when females cannot decide whether they want to become mothers or not is not democratic because it makes women especially vulnerable.
