TeamSTEPPS consists of five major principles: the team structure and four other skills. These include leadership, communication, mutual support, and situation monitoring (Zerwekh & Garneau, 2021). The above abilities inter-relate with each other to guarantee that teamwork is enhanced. Communication is one of the significant aspects of Team STEPPS that is vital for strengthening safe patient care. If I were a manager, I would continue embracing this feature as a method of administration.
This is because an effective interaction offers a better understanding of a patient’s needs. It also confirms that information is clear and accurate when passed to the team members to provide essential health care. A review carried out by the Clinical Biochemist Review found that about 14000 deaths occur annually due to errors done during the communication process (Giddens, 2021). Thus, to certify that patients’ safety is assured, embracing communication will be a crucial aspect to be considered.
There are various ways in which I will guarantee that patients’ rights protection and privacy are maintained successively. The first one is by safely transmitting client data, which is a highly essential feature in ensuring that the medical history of all clients is well stored. I will also confirm that delays in inter and intra-hospital communications are reduced to avoid unnecessary expenses. Collaborating with the team members is one of the advantages of a healthy interaction (Giddens, 2021).
Patients, lab technicians, and other medical stakeholders need to constantly communicate and warrant that issues are dealt with and solved with ease. Another benefit will be coordinating leadership among the team members. As a manager, I will be required to interconnect more frequently with my staff to guarantee that the program is running as it was planned. For it to be effective, I must maintain open lines of communication with those facilitating the teamwork.
