Terrorist Attacks: Death and Horrifying Effects on Innocent People

The perception of terrorist attacks is highly recognized across the globe and is among the frequently cited issues of the current society. Since such attacks affect many nations internationally, they have been perceived as the main threats to peace and national security. The word ‘terrorism’ emanated from the expression ‘terror’ since the main aim of terrorists is to spread fear. It, at all times, results in the suffering or death of innocent people as terrorist groups behind illegal actions use such victims to call for the fulfillment of their stipulated commands or intentions. The problems of terrorism are frequently discussed in modern literature, studies, news, and, in some instances, actual life.

The majority of people can affirm that terrorism signifies a phenomenon, but the accurate definition of this occurrence appears to be a difficult task. However, it is apparent that in most definitions, organizations and people stress that the main attribute of terrorism is the application of brutality with the purpose of targeting the public. The definition offered by the British government in around 1970 is possibly the one that gives the clearest picture; they stated that it is the application of violence for political interests, and encompasses any hostility aimed at instilling fear in the public or a group of people. Unlike others, the definition mentioned that political issues are typically the reasons behind most terrorist attacks. The justification for the attacks on innocent people does not have a legal worth at all. This is because the delivery of penalty (even when legally warranted) lies squarely in the hands of the justice system rather than a self-confessed vigilante.

In the course of the recent few decades, numerous terrifying and dreadful acts of terror have shaken metropolises in Asia, the US, the Middle East, Europe, Russian Federation, and the world at large. News accounts regarding new terrorism incidences appear nearly on a day-to-day or weekly basis nowadays. Terrorism denotes dangerous attacks on innocent people, which are normally undertaken in densely populated areas in an attempt to have as many fatalities and victims as possible.

In this regard, such actions ought to be reprimanded severely since they result in the death and horrifying effects on innocent people regardless of any justification for the attacks. The extent of terror attacks is supposed to be assessed not based merely on the number of people dead or strongly affected but by the impact on innocent individuals, the political systems, and the international community as well. The residents of the targeted regions are the greatest affected by terrorist attacks. Terror attacks cannot have a significant effect without victims, as that could result in the failure to realize their main objectives.

Through affecting the public at their most vulnerable instance, terrorists seek to show the government that its defensive mechanisms are weak and may be breached easily. This is an approach and a way of leaving every person in fear and eliciting the notion that nobody is ever safe. Through directing their attacks on innocent people, terrorists endeavor to discredit the government or compel it to satisfy their demands. The view of taking terrorism to be a morally-backed reaction to oppression does not mean that terrorists should not carry the responsibility for their actions and strict legal measures taken against them.
